Sunburnt from running in the sun sans sunscreen I’m sitting around wondering whether to opt for a light beer, a water, or the South African Merlot/Cabernet Sauvignon combo my housemate bought on clearance (yea I’m opting for the light beer). Sunday evening, never a good time for thought, brings out the links in me.

Quick notes:

Dear President Obama, you are really sucking on the health care issue, and though I know you are busy try to concentrate, and please keep us out of I fucking ran.

I don’t care one way or another what some old late night comedienne/talk show host says about anyone. I am a little sick of old men constantly making their jokes at the expense of women, without said jokes being at all contributive to or reflective of anything but of the minds of washed up dirty old men.

What is wrong with Netanyahu.

Things you might enjoy:

Some great pictures via the Scarlett’s Lion’s Surfing Liberia or as presented on the BBC. You will love these even if you don’t surf.

Also a link to a video on the film Sliding Liberia: surfing in a war-torn country. G posted this last week.

Doug ponders a no party (or sole party, can’t be sure) in Prattler Party of One

Things you should know:

Probably not a good idea to send your kids to an amusement park that just declared bankruptcy. Though I hear that composite they use on planes now isn’t such a sure thing either.

Opening here and there during film festival season. BURMA VJ – Reporting from a closed country Anders Ostergaard directed, it uses video footage shot secretly during the 2007 monks’ demonstration, by the Democratic Voice of Burma, based in Oslo, Norway. NYT review. I have yet to catch it, but there are plenty of reviews around.

For those in the D.C. area this week Silver Docs will be in Progress.

That pesky dashboard is reminding me it’s time to upgrade to WP 2.8. My energy tonight goes to calming my fears about a total disintegration of the blog. I’ve had it awhile, the blog that is. It holds a special place in my heart.

If this blog goes down, remember where the love was found.

PEACE

Masochist that I am I upgraded to WordPress 2.6 a couple of evenings ago, consequently I’m desperately searching the web for a fix to the problem(s) which occurred when I lost all my categories, tags, permalinks, and god knows what else. All links to categories and tags lead to empty pages.

Whatever you do, do not use WordPress if your life is spent doing something besides sitting in front of a computer, if you think Word Camp has something to do with vocabulary, and if you don’t orgasm working with code.

It used to be simple enough to use WP, even if you didn’t get off on code, as long as you could follow simple directions. Fixes were simple. You didn’t have to search for hours only to find someone suggest the solution is going into your CPanel – PhP administration and start messing with taxomony tables. WTF is that all about anyway?

So, if you have a real life, can’t afford to hire a WordPress bitch (and I mean that in the most reverent way), don’t think your heart can stand the stress, and if sitting in front of a computer looking through database files is not a really big turn on to you, stay away from WP. As much as I love the options it provides, it has beaten me down, and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone who is not already stuck with it.

If you want to be my WordPress bitch please give me a call.

I’m considering wiping the whole database and starting completely new with a fresh install of something. I just don’t know what to do with a couple years worth of blog.

That and I’d hate to disappoint all those people searching for Michael Phelps pubic hair.

A comments off public service announcement.

You will thank me.

I’ve added threaded comments which has disallowed the plug-in which lets you to edit your comment over a certain period of time, for some reason they do not work together.

I’m not sure which is better the ability to edit your comments, or my ability to respond individually to the comments.

I’ve always found it a little annoying to have to respond in one large comment to everyone, though it does cut back on having a ton of separate comments it’s less personal, and this will also provide those commenting with an easier way to respond to each other – when what I write is less enthralling than the comments – eh, it happens.

The only problem is the comment count goes up with my comments, and
many like the ability to edit for those spelling and grammar mistakes made when commenting quickly while grabbing that tofu burger during the fifteen minutes of lunch time.

I’m torn.

I’m going to try this out for s bit.

What strikes your comment bone as the hottest comment system.

Feel free to practice.
