Sunburnt Sunday

Sunday, June 14th, 2009

Sunburnt from running in the sun sans sunscreen I’m sitting around wondering whether to opt for a light beer, a water, or the South African Merlot/Cabernet Sauvignon combo my housemate bought on clearance (yea I’m opting for the light beer). Sunday evening, never a good time for thought, brings out the links in me.

Quick notes:

Dear President Obama, you are really sucking on the health care issue, and though I know you are busy try to concentrate, and please keep us out of I fucking ran.

I don’t care one way or another what some old late night comedienne/talk show host says about anyone. I am a little sick of old men constantly making their jokes at the expense of women, without said jokes being at all contributive to or reflective of anything but of the minds of washed up dirty old men.

What is wrong with Netanyahu.

Things you might enjoy:

Some great pictures via the Scarlett’s Lion’s Surfing Liberia or as presented on the BBC. You will love these even if you don’t surf.

Also a link to a video on the film Sliding Liberia: surfing in a war-torn country. G posted this last week.

Doug ponders a no party (or sole party, can’t be sure) in Prattler Party of One

Things you should know:

Probably not a good idea to send your kids to an amusement park that just declared bankruptcy. Though I hear that composite they use on planes now isn’t such a sure thing either.

Opening here and there during film festival season. BURMA VJ – Reporting from a closed country Anders Ostergaard directed, it uses video footage shot secretly during the 2007 monks’ demonstration, by the Democratic Voice of Burma, based in Oslo, Norway. NYT review. I have yet to catch it, but there are plenty of reviews around.

For those in the D.C. area this week Silver Docs will be in Progress.

That pesky dashboard is reminding me it’s time to upgrade to WP 2.8. My energy tonight goes to calming my fears about a total disintegration of the blog. I’ve had it awhile, the blog that is. It holds a special place in my heart.

If this blog goes down, remember where the love was found.
