Old School Friday, already. Geesh. Where does the time go? Did I say Geesh? Kill me please.
The theme this week is Songs to Workout/Exercise to.
My main exercise is running. I run daily. My play-list is long and varies from week to week. My current run music on the iPod contains the following. Hail to the Thief/Radiohead, God is a DJ/Pink, Mr Bright Side The Killers/ I Get Around and Barbara Ann/ Beach Boys, Snow/ RHCP, Miss You and Paint It Black/Rolling Stones, Joga/Bjork, The Verve /Bitterweet Symphony, My First My Last My Everything/Barry White, Come As You Are/Nirvana, Mean Mr. Mustard/The Beatles, My Blakean Year/Patti Smith, and Rufus Wainwright/Across The Universe.
For Pilates, when done at home instead of the studio — where they play some kind of relaxation music — I use a toned down frenetic music.
These two songs work well for Pilates, but for those not inclined to move away from their screen, this works well in an office chair that swivels. Center, swivel left, center, swivel right, repeat. Stretching that waist a little further round each time. Plant your feet on the floor, a good pair of non slip shoes helps anchor you. You may even manage to figure out a way to get some thigh stretch in there. Please don’t do this with wired ear phones, nothing good can come of that.
So you want to know how to work the thighs without getting out of the chair too?
This next song is for those thighs. Obviously.
Strap on those ten pound ankle weights and start those leg stretches/leg lifts. You can break out in to an all out dance kick if you want, but lift that leg high. Please start with the right leg, and keep time with the music.
