Chief Executive Edward Liddy told Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner in a letter dated Saturday that the next payments to employees of the financial products unit — whose woes caused massive losses at the giant insurer — are due on Sunday, and added “quite frankly, AIG’s hands are tied.”

Though not a prison, these people are much like the Bastille, an impenetrable fortress, corrupt, and in need of a good storming. The prisoners, in this case “we the people”, housed in the real world outside the fortress, must not be fearful of storming the Bastille. Calling, writing, and protesting on our legislators doors, will do in a pinch.

I have, after careful consideration, changed my mind on many issues. This, I’m sure, is only the beginning.

Eh, it happens. For years, swayed by rumor passed down through generations, originating with my mother’s cousin Stephen and various experts throughout the world, I thought John Lennon was the only decent song writer in the Beatles.

And Your Bird Can Sing. A Concert

I missed John Lennon’s deathaversary. This should matter little considering he wrote songs, became an icon, and was murdered long before I was born, but I have always been a fan of his music. Despite that, I’ve yet to come to an understanding of how one man creates such a commotion (still) decades after his death while thousands of deaths (just as untimely) are ignored daily? Is it the events surrounding his death which made the man and his art greater than they were? Is what he was justification for those yearly pilgrimages to Manhattan?

Aware of his songs from “Imagine” to “Mother” I’m going to kick it back to the songs he wrote as half of the Lennon /McCarthy duo.

Happiness wasn’t a warm gun for Mr. Lennon but I love this song anyway…

Another song which rumor has it is the one song he most regrets writing and rightly so it’s a an ex- stalker boyfriend jingle.

Also rumored to be one of Lennon’s least favorite song — most of his songs were at one time or another — And This Bird Can Sing has a unison twin guitar attack which is petty sweet.

And then of course there’s Revolution.
