It’s been awhile since I’ve done this, but feel free to play along.

This week I read a post at Good that gave me the impression that When The Lights Went out in Massachusetts it was because a drunk or drugged driver hit a utility pole.

.

I have seen a co-worker down approximately 5 shots of Casa Noble Tequila Anejo from a flask prior to heading out on the slopes, and I did not stop him, but followed him up the lift and down the mountain.

I listened to whole of Kayne West’s My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, and loved it, as I love him — despite his too numerous to count, and glaring, faults. Unfortunately the whole mp3 album has mysteriously disappeared from my computer, before being transferred.

I will miss my dog loving great aunt Lottie, may she rest in peace. She died this past week. I was unable to travel to New England to attend the funeral as I was giving oral defense. And no, that is not a blow job.

It rained heavily earlier this evening. The Sun’s brilliance, relentless during the ten minute deluge, would have prompted a search for my level 5 sunglasses had they been in my bag. Rushing home from a myriad of tasks I scanned the sky only briefly for the anticipated rainbow. Of the variety of things humankind makes wishes upon, shooting starts, acorns, dice and so forth, rainbows are the only thing taken seriously in my clan. Call us the Clan of the Color Spectrum if you will. This by way of an explanation of the precocious wish I felt the need to make on a rainbow that had yet to materialized. May not have materialized, for all I know. So it’s come to this — my world. A world where, in my haste, I can no longer wait for what might be. A world where I’m forever doomed to wish upon elusive rainbows.

Infinite Jest:

This is for anyone considering an attempt at this gargantuan novel. With more characters on the first two pages than in the last ten books I’ve read, this is novel of a future dystopia (or five future dystopias, it’s hard to tell at p. 120, but I fear the worse) that only a genius who has forgotten to take his Adderall could have written. Reading Infinite Jest has made me realize it may have been a mistake not to have taken up a friend’s invitation to check out the Tibetan Meditation Center situated the mountains not far from here. I was not completely unprepared, having resumed my Yoga classes in May, but be forewarned, reading this book requires the taking or doing of something to sedate thoughts and mollify the spirit. No getting through it otherwise.

The neither here nor there:

There is much we should know, and even more we should be spared. Sanford Calls Mistress His ‘Soul Mate’, and anything written after such a title, is in the later category.

I’m one of those non twittering twitterers. Most of my life occurs offline, and I prefer it that way. I’ve never really felt the need to twitter, but when a bandwagon full of such a diverse variety of virtual humanity called I was more than willing to jump on it for a short test ride. I got off quickly the first time, but jumped on once more when the wagon got larger. It’s still too difficult to manage to fit into my real life, but this twitter for busy people might be just the thing to help with that problem.

Check out the new theme and post your complaints. You can open the menu and the footer with the tabs at the top right and bottom left. Let me know if you prefer them permanently open, as that can be managed. I can also remove all the posts from the first page and make it just as a regular blog, though those who read me from their reader won’t really be affected by this. I aim to please. Especially on Tuesdays.

Peace

A week goes by as a day, and it’s old school friday before the realization that tea-totaler Thursday is over. Always vigilant of my health the day passed while I was consuming a few bottles of red wine. A few bottles because it was Australian wine containing 5 to 10 times fewer procyanidins than wines from Southwest France and Sardinia, Italy. Tradition production increases procyanidins and these wines are produced traditionally. So much for tea-totaler Thursday I know.

Ten days free to read before the first of my summer sessions begin. Tell me of the book you FINALLY read after avoiding it for years, the book you now can’t imagine living without having read.

I’ve have a couple lightweights hanging around, Driving With Dead People and Outliers, both should be quick reads. I finally read Of Human Bondage during my last batch of free time. Suggest away. Nothing to do with foreign or national policy, government, or politics please. I’m off that for a ten day sabbatical. This is an exercise to see if my cyber habits have forever damaged my ability to read Gilgamesh without checking to see if he has a twitter account.

A la Recherche Du Temps Perdu? Maybe. I haven’t read it. Some more Chekov? I’ve loved several of his short stories, I could do with a few more. Rothschild’s Violin maybe. I haven’t read it. Shocking I know considering my propensity for all things violin. Middlemarch? Suggested by someone, or I wouldn’t even consider it. If you have an opinion one way or another make a case. I’m book shopping during lunch tomorrow.

OSF theme this week is “The Greatest Of All Time”. I’m off to study for that one.

In the meantime check out my last post at Should Be Famous, a blog with an identity crisis now accepting poetry, pictures and other prose. A clip wrongly titled PolliNation, as ants suck the sweet out of my peonies.

Peace
