Until recently when I read a couple books at a side of the road book-sale/flee market. The two books were Ruth Rendell’s Going Wrong, and A Dark-Adapted Eye. It was the first time I’d ever found any of her books at a used book sale, though I’m sure they are around. The books were good quick reads, mystery suspense, madness.

Thanks to The Hathor Legacy I have seen the video presentation , Werner Herzog Reads Madeline. This retelling of Madeline, by someone pretending to be Werner Herzog, is either brilliant or I am becoming common. I’m certain it’s the former. There is no doubt that it’s share worthy.

I have listened to Tom Petty’s New CD and the single by the same name.

Last but not least, I will miss my good friend Suah, as she is heading back to Liberia to be with her family as her grandfather recently passed.

This is likely to keep you busy. Enough to fit in between the slices of weekend guests, hikes, tours, and debauchery.

I have received an award from the lovely Shea of Hey Shae. So, here is the story. I had a page full of awards and award memes which I deleted a few months ago. Oh yeah, I was a rocking girl blogger times fifteen, a thinker, a writer and so on. It seems reasonable to start fresh every year, one can never rest of their laurels now can one? I mean you could easily rock one year and totally suck the next, right? So I start fresh with the Your Blog is Fabulous Award/Meme, thank you Shea.

Here are the rules: I’m supposed to pass this on to five other people with fabulous blogs, after I list five addictions. Knowing that no one here abhors enjoys memes quite as much as I do, that is a difficult task. Raising the ire of those who read you is a scary thing.

My Addictions as of February 2009, so stated because this could change over time.

2. Sushi
3. Brushing my teeth twice daily with my Sonic Care Toothbrush,.
4. Shopping at Annie Creamcheese, (a Vintage Clothing Store not a bagel shop).
5. War and Peace, I think I’ve read it more times than anyone throughout history.

I am passing, with some hesitation, this award to these fabulous bloggers. Don’t hate me because I’m beautiful, hate me because I meme you. Should they choose to follow the rules and carry on, so much the better.

Sterling from Chips and Quips, because even though he is a bit techie he gives good link, and when he writes on non techie issues it is always splendid.

Pia, for Courting Destiny, for obvious reasons, and because I think it will be fun to see how she incorporates a yellow award into a pink blog.

Wombat because he has recently made his blog open source, and possibly this will encourage him to actually start writing in it again. ;)

This week it’s Break Up Songs. Songs to break up to, songs to listen to after a break up with a smile on your face, or listen to as you wallow in self pity. There is no dearth of break-up songs whichever view you want to take.

Dylan seems to have a run on break-up songs, though I’m not featuring my long time favorite (It Ain’t Me Babe), or my second favorite Dionne Warwick’s “Walk on By” this time around.

I heart Sum 41 always, more so for having contributed to the the first Rock Against Bush album with their song Moron, so their Pieces is on my “favorite but not featured” list. A simple little ballad. A decent “no drama” break-up song.

On my break-up song search I discovered Linda Ronstadt was the queen of break-up songs, with
You’re No Good and A Long Long Time topping my list. Not Much for drama or despair A Long Long Time even depresses me. It’s awesome though.

I choose Kiss Off by the Violent Femmes as my featured song. Never covered as well as the original this song survived my parents wedding, a fact I have video to substantiate, made rounds when I was in high school via covers and the original, and is not so much a break up song as an “Eff off” song sung loudly after a break ups when everything in your world just seems to suck.

So, dear John, walk on bye, because you’re no good and haven’t been for a long long time, and if you’re looking for someone to pick up the pieces — it ain’t me babe , so kiss off.
