My friends call me Cooper.
I began a blog at blogspot in the late autumn of 2004. I was a freshman in college. My friends were tired of me talking about politics and the pope on the various livejournal dead journal blogs, they wanted to talk about their love life and their clothing, so I left to talk to myself in something called “a blog”.
I never intended to be here this long, but bloggers are what they are, they like to think everyone else is dying to read what they have to say, and that they are the greatest hidden undiscovered gift out there. I am one of them, a blogger. I wish we could give it another name, like chronicler, or inspirational muse, anything but blogger. Either way, what began unintentionally caused an experience which belied the absence of intent.
Hell with Quantum Physics…..
( What this blog is about???)
Things I write here are the every day leftovers of a tortured reasonable, if at times unreasonably idealistic, mind. I write of things which give me a headache, or constipate.
I write random pop culture commentary, social commentary, and political opinion - along with some bad poetry.
I write about what concerns me, and what makes me laugh. I seldom write about myself.
I may write about my brother.
That this blog sometimes serves a purpose, other than catharsis, is happenstance.
This blog was never meant to have a niche, and never meant to have a purpose except as noted above. My life is in the real world off line, and off limits.
I am the spawn of fiscally conservative “liberals”.
Not brought up entirely in this country I love it well, but I do not always love it best.
I am a twenty-one twenty-two year old college student - graduate- grad student with a blog.
I majored in Anthropology (cultural focus), and Photography. I’m a liaison, in protection and resettlement, for non governmental humanitarian agency. In other words I write position papers, and as I’m trilingual I go to decent lunches sometimes. I am also currently a graduate student - international affairs and public policy.

If you must label me - I know some people just love labels - I am more of a humanist than anything else.
“Humanism is a rational philosophy informed by science, inspired by art, and motivated by compassion. Affirming the dignity of each human being, it supports the maximization of individual liberty and opportunity consonant with social and planetary responsibility. It advocates the extension of participatory democracy and the expansion of the open society, standing for human rights and social justice. Free of super-naturalism, it recognizes human beings as a part of nature and holds that values—be they religious, ethical, social, or political—have their source in human nature, experience, and culture. Humanism thus derives the goals of life from human need and interest rather than from theological or ideological abstractions, and asserts that humanity must take responsibility for its own destiny.”
I’ve lived a few places including, Australia, Vermont, Maryland, Rhode Island, Venezuela ( for a brief period), Puerto Rico (more of a frequent visitor there) and NYC.
Musical Taste: Eclectic - * Live * The Pixies * Sex Pistols * Yo Yo Ma * The Ramones * Fugazi * Bob Dylan * Bright Eyes * Ben Folds * Beck * Jack Johnson * Jason Mraz *Coltrane *Mozart* Ben Harper… it never ends. I put my foot down at Hanson.
Favorite Books and Movies: Too many books. Not enough movies.
And you ask……
Why do you write this?
Because I can.
But why?
Because I want to.
No, seriously why?
Why not?
Why not is not an answer.
I don’t want answers.
It’s the questions that matter.
They give me a quest.
The answers will kill me.
I write to keep the questions from ever being answered
