About

Conceptually fragile and left of most lines, Wonderland or Not was originally an offshoot of, or escape from, various teenage/college blogs of the Live/Dead Journal genre. It was originally titled Or Something and lived at the blogspot address livingwellornot. I was a sophomore in college. I couldn’t decide whether I was living well, or not. That address is now lost to me. The title of the blog was changed to Wonderland or Not soon after conception due to my lifelong love of all things Alice in Wonderland, and to fulfill that secret desire to call myself Alice in a quasi public forum.

You might say, “I was so much older then. I’m younger than that now”.
Or I might say it, because I love that line from My Back Pages.

This blog is the bad poetry and prose of an almost awesome person. A person with little talent for poetry or prose, and no desire to be a poet or writer.

The things I write here are the every day leftovers of a tortured reasonable, if at times unreasonably idealistic, mind. I write of things which give me headaches, or constipate. Like everyone else I write random pop culture, social and political commentary, and bad poetry. I write about what concerns me, and what makes me laugh. I seldom write about myself. I may write about my brother. That this blog sometimes serves a purpose, other than catharsis, is happenstance. This blog was never meant to have a niche, and never meant to have a purpose except as noted above. My life is in the real world. Off line, and off limits.

I am the spawn of fiscally conservative “liberals”. Not brought up entirely in this country, I love it well but I do not always love it best. I’m a full time grad student in public policy and international affairs. My feet got wet as a liaison in protection and resettlement for a non governmental humanitarian agency. Currently I’m a part time analyst (Qualitative Research) in needs assessment for the Commission on Women in my county.

I can be found on the streets of D.C. or somewhere in Maryland either hiking, running, wishing I was surfing, or learning to rock climb.

I am a dot
(nothing more)
in a sea of dots.
I sometimes touch other dots
some will be moved by the touching
others will not be
that is the best I can do

The original about poem is not gone. It’s forgotten, but retrievable.
