Winter Songs

I’m still here, despite getting more than 10 spams a day in Chinese – a sure indication that you are no longer blogging.

I caught up with Bone, who reminded me how much I love Gordon Lightfoot. I’m glad he is still alive. Gordon Lightfoot not Bone. Eh, you know what I mean.

And I bleed Simon and Garfunkle.

I know, I know, it’s not a really a winter song, but life is a metaphor (as in this is the winter of my blog) n’est pas? For what it’s worth it’s a great live version of Hazy Shade of Winter.

I wish I had something clever to say about the Ginggrinch stealing Christmas, but the realization that elections are bought by the top 1% of the top 1% make it all rather futile.

I wish you all the best in the quest for the perfect holiday season.

peace

  4. Gord’s great. Simon and Garfunkle are too iconic to say nice things about.

  5. The hazy shade of winter…what an apt description of what I feel most days, most hours. “Simply pretend,” is getting pretty hard as you note about fig Newt.

Do we need a Newt to run a country? How bout a GEICO gecko? That actually wouldn’t bother – cool East end accent at least. (http://youtu.be/acCfnwTpdxU for a spot on reason to elect a gecko…instead of a Newt…babysitting!) But seriously, I hope your mood improves about things…you gotta solve these problems now. You are educated and tepidly invested in the future of the ol’ USA, right? ;)

Well if you don’t fancy writing ’til 2012,a happy season to you and yours. May something of value come in the next two weeks as opposed to any other two weeks of the year.

The G-Light was just perfect. Thanks for that.

May you be safe and well.

  8. Remember the movie “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” starring Jim Carrey in the title role?

My favorite part, I think, is when the Grinch says … “The avarice never ends! I want golf clubs. I want diamonds. I want a pony so I can ride it twice, get bored and sell it to make glue. Look, I don’t wanna make waves, but this *whole* Christmas season is [shouts] stupid, stupid, stupid!”

  10. Back in Sweden for Christmas this year. All the windows have (candle) lights and stars; dark by 3pm, it’s pretty magic. Hope you have someone(s) special to spend the Holidays with Cooper.

  11. Time,Time,Time, see what’s become of me
While I looked around for my possibilities.

Love those lyrics, and Lightfoot is magical still.

    Happy Holiday.

  12. I’m a traditionalist myself. I think that this modern notion of a virgin birth in a manger amongst newborn animals in the dead of winter rather dampens the feasting, drinking, and ribaldry which a proper observance of the winter solstice entails. I applaud your contribution to the season.

Alas, the dream of a Gingrich candidacy was too good to be true. I’m starting to wonder if the primary race thus far has been a masterful feat of trolling on the part of the GOP, teasing liberals with candidate after candidate who would have caused an unmitigated disaster for the party in November (and thus give us a chance to actually get some work done thereafter). I guess we’re going to have to settle for Romney as a punching bag.
