It’s time for another round of Have Read (Seen, Listened To, Will Miss), Friday.
Tomorrow is Judgement Day. I know very little about The Rapture, except as it relates to one of my favorite songs. The Rapture wasn’t a popular topic around me growing up. I’ve had to catch up. I’ve read Jacket Copy’s last minute rapture reading list. The number one suggestion was “It’s simple. You want to know about the “rapture”? Read the Bible. Turn to the Book of Revelation.”. Of course cheaters can read The Book of Revelations for Dummies , though I imagine shortcuts are frowned upon in a judgement scenario.
The article I read didn’t appear to find any credible evidence of the Rapture being this Saturday evening, and neither have I, but it does no harm to read up on it. You can check out the rest of their suggested readings at the link. You’ve probably read some of them.
I’ve seen an old Mad Max film. I love them, but it is increasingly difficult to isolate Mel Gibson, the drunk racist, sexist, women beating, asshole, from his character Mad Max. I love Mad Max, so I suffer the cognitive dissonance.
I took a quick trip to the Delaware shore Wednesday and Thursday. I brought home some of he best Strawberries I’ve ever tasted. I will miss them when they are gone.
Thanks to Star Maker Machine I’ve listened to Sammy Davis Junior singing I’ve Got To Be Me
Davis performed “I’ve Gotta Be Me” in 1972 at the black consciousness concert PUSH Expo, co-organised by the Rev Jessie Jackson. The line-up of the concert, which was made into a documentary film titled Save The Children, was hip and impressive. It included Marvin Gaye, Quincy Jones, Curtis Mayfield, Roberta Flack, Bill Withers, The Main Ingredient, Gladys Knight, Jerry Butler, The Temptations, Ramsey Lewis, Zulema, The Jackson 5, The O’Jays, Cannonball Adderley and more.

What have you read, seen, or listened to, and what will you miss this?

There is a surge of people listening to this song thanks to the coming rapture……
I know about the rapture in the vague pesky fly way.
Those films were cool. I think you can see films and ignore the man, he was much younger then. I wonder if he was such an asshole at the time.
Interesting piece of music by Sammy Davis the audio is nice thanks for the find.
I’m reading “Unbroken: A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience, and Redemption” great book.
I’m reading light for the summer. ;)
When I was a kid flipping channels on early Sunday mornings crusty on white men scared the crap out of me preaching about the end of the world, 4 horsemen coming in 1980, then 1985, then 1990, and 1995.
Reading the Rapture in my opinion would be as useful as reading Nutritional Facts on a diet soda can. I simply refuse to dignify it even in its attempt to humor me with creative vocabulary.

It was more or less suggested books like 1984 or The Bible. Both good reads.
We’d be remiss to not give this one last spin at least. Just watched “Ink” — a sci-fi sleeper that was quite good. Also a very good dark English comedy recently, “Wild Target” with Emily Blunt (a lovely young woman). Will miss your posts if the world does end tomorrow. Reading about Fukushima and how it’s much worse than the U.S. media is reporting (I shouldn’t be surprised I suppose).
I’m still here, and though it’s possible we are all simply not worthy I’m going ot gues sit didn’t happen.
Love that vid.
This being the rapture, I will miss all of you.
Be that the case you would be the only person I have any relationship with who was chosen.
He took my line.
I’ve read a years worth of backed up issues of “The Atlantic”, I’ve seen a few college lacrosse games and will see more, will miss the season when it ends.
I’ve listened to Wasting Light by the Foo Fighters. Too many times I need to get something new to listen to on the way to work.

I have more backed up magazine than I are to admit I’m consolidating this year.
Matt is leaving for Rome for a week. I’m tempting to go with him because it’s 6pm there, with no rapture yet. I know Roman Catholicism doesn’t lean toward the rapture so maybe that is why. ;)
I’ve been reading student transcripts and essays all week, it’s my turn for alumni admissions and I’m doing January admissions during this month of may.
I have seen Pirates of the Caribbean, I took my nephew and friends last evening, it was alright better than Thor and too crowded.

i so love Johnny Depp I’d see it even if it were poorly done, but I’m not sure when I’ll get to see this one.
When I was on psyche rotation there were people running around waiting for the end of days all the time. It’s way past the time and the judgement has not come, oh my.
I’ve read “The Weird Sisters”. Will miss my last rotation will miss it was OB and I thought I’d despise it.
Have seen a patient wit Toxemia deliver a son and go into DIC and recover and that is pretty rare.

I have to say you win this round. ;)
Word on the street is they cancelled yesterday’s judgement day?
I don’t have a hard time dissociating Gibson from the road warrior but haven’t seen the film in some time.
The strawberries here are delicious this year so far i will miss them too.
I have read ” The Greatest Fishing Stories Ever Told”, listened to James Blake and I’m almost certain I saw a Roseate Spoonbill randomly walking around Cape Henlopen State Park.

I have to look up Roseate Spoonbill. I’d not recognize if I saw one.
I loved Unbroken. It was “easy” reading–though for the summer I lean toward mysteries. I saw Blue Valentine the other night. Got it but didn’t see any allure except in the acting, and even the acting didn’t save it
I’m low on the movie seeing end these days unless it’s a documentary. Unbroken sounds like a nice summer read.
It the end of the school year. I read 5th grade history essays,
chaperoned the 5th grade farewell dance/party where I listened to enough Beiber and Katie Perry to last a lifetime. I saw some crazy dance moves, and will miss my students when they head to middle school.
