True Love Will Find You In The End

Cover Lay Down’s
single song Saturday is True Love Will Find You In The End (A birthday tribute to outsider musician Daniel Johnston), subject of 2005 documentary The Devil and Daniel Johnson and some say one of the world’s finest musicians. Go over and check out the awesome covers of this spectacular little song. I’m kind of liking Tom Williams & The Boat’s version.

Enjoy your weekend.

  1. I’m familiar with Becks version but those covers are great.

Remember Yo La Tengo and “Speeding Motorcycle?

  2. I think I like Wilco’s version best; I was having some real Neil Young moments listening to them all..

  3. Sweet assortment. Thank you.

In a teen/romance movie this would be the music that’s heard after the hero has revealed his or her lie to the love interest, and is faced with the feeling of guilt free to accept a fresh start. It also applies to our cerebral soundtrack of life too.

I don’t think complete love will ever find me. Best I could hope for in life is to die before I’m incapable of wiping my own butt.

The man’s story is fascinating and sad.

  6. That song does bring Neil Young to mind.

I’ve heard a few covers of his over the years. His story is an interesting, if sad one. I know there are a lot of artists who find him influential. Thanks for posting this link coop.

    • Joe I’ve never seen your face I’m about to die…it’s been 6 years….you were nothing or that cat with headphones for most of that time…..

Ok I’m stable now,,,, yes but he is his own man….

      Welcome

  7. I’d not heard oF him, the video is cool, I like the Wilco version best.

Thanks for blogging for choice yesterday. I’d have done so on my tumblr had I the time, but didn’t get to look at blogs this week. I have seen too many people without money and without options during both my ER and OB rotations.

  8. Why do we have to wait until the end? And why does it only have to happen once?

    Pretty tune, though.

  9. Thank you for the links – the video is probably the best part.

I hope true love finds me before the end…that’s all I have to say.

    Oh right, it already has…

  10. This was wonderful. Thanks Cooper :) I’m glad you have an ad for the Ochs documentary. He literally changed my life and the life of some others important to my life–after he was dead. Won’t go into the hows now but damn I want to see that documentary!

    • Yea, the first run show dates page is town this evening for some reason though. It was up a few days ago when I placed this here.

  11. Dude reminds me a bit of a very young Bob Dylan, except that I can understand this guy’s words.

True love may find us all but it’s bound to disappoint us before we get to the end.

  12. Pretty cool video and I see where he had a following among more well known musicians many of them pulling little pieces from him, some featuring and working with him.

The slightly crazy artist. Is anyone in the art considered normal? Is any computer geek?
