Strange Ones, A Poem, and Other Non Substantive Triviality

I often indulge in a little game
In which I try to tell
What certain bloggers would be like
If I could know them well

Of course, I rarely have the chance
To see if I’ve guessed right
But there is gratification in
Apprasing folks sans sight

Now and again I sit around
With monotony of the mind
Getting my weekly stimulation
Reading odd blogs that I find

I’m sure there’s lots of people
If I allowed myself to see
Who find me just as dubious
As these strange ones are to me

Non-substantive triviality:

Yo-Yo Ma Radio has added more songs.

I read that Alfred Hitchcock was a misogynist asshole. I am disappointed.

Friends are killing me softly with all the requests to accompany them to Eat Prey Love.

I’m a pretty good girl friend, and I love that friends want me to accompany them to the movies, but by asking me to see this film they clearly show they know me not at all. Moreover, I’m in the middle of some minor research, am trying to squeeze in a four or five day trip to Banff around Labor Day, and I’d rather see Eraserhead — a film that always makes me gag.

True Blood Quote Musings:

I liked Eric’s dual meaning quote of the Magistrate’s Fuck the Authority, but Russell’s We will eat you after we eat your children is the cake topper this week.

Peace

  1. No witty poems come to mind.
    I cannot think at all.
I’m running out of iambs here
    And cruising for a fall.

I hope you enjoy Banff; it’s truly awesome. Six hours further by car and you’d be at my house.

    • I hope I can make it. School will have started but I hope to be able to meet up with some friends for a few days. I feel the need for some cooler air.

      You poem is lovely.

  2. What the web can never give us
    What we may never find
Is how our blogging buddies look
    When witnessed from behind.

  3. There is a film I think you’ll like
(though not for the faint of heart)
    “Girl With A Dragon Tattoo”
with a protagonist who is smart

    On Netflix it is streaming
(if you don’t have it, get it!)
It’s Swedish, so you’ll have to read
    what her words are meaning…

    • I may have to try to catch it. I have read the book.

Your poetry too is wonderful. Such good sports and creatives here.

  4. Clever commenters
    I’m not one.
    Eraserhead, left me
    running
    screaming.
    From The Waverly
    to a club
    cross 6th Ave
    where everybody did laugh
    at my rant
    *********
That movie should be outlawed. And I don’t believe in censorship but uh it hit me hard. WTF did I know? I’m just a girl.

    • They play if on the Independent film channel or Sundance, or one of those… late at night periodically. it is considered a piece of art by many and it falls in that category but the images are ugly truths presented in a way that can take only one viewing.

For the time it must have rocked some minds.

  5. if this were a contest
i’m afriad i’d take it all
i’ve seen you in the summer
i’ve seen you in the fall
    on surfboard and on bicycle
    a visage to beguile

Eraserhead is one of those movies you want to turn away from in disgust but you can’t.

    sucks about hitchcock

  6. Where does it say the comments have to be in poetic form? I refuse to embarrass myself.

I heard that about Hitchcock too. Only recently, while reading about him and the women who was in the movie The Birds.

Russell is fast becoming my hero. Denis O’Hare’s done himself proud, but why oh why did Talbot have to die. He was gorgeous despite his princess tendancies.

I wouldn’t have guessed that about Hitchcock but I haven’t see much of his old work.

  9. aarrr creative I am not. I think I went to college because I have absolutely no talents whatsoever. Those who can do. Those who can’t go to college. Not always true but in my case I guess it is.

  10. My mother is interested in that movie., I have no interest in it.

Nothing worse than a fat old misogynist.

I won’t attempt an amusing poem, but I loved your poem, and
I love that these people are brave and creative enough to post poem commnets. Talk about odd. ;)

  11. Sweet poem
    I can’t compete
    the other guys
    they’ve got me beat

Eraserhead is a mad sick piece of work, it’s one of those things I hope my children never run across in their online meanderings – nightmare inducing.

Genius is full of assholery but look at his movies – it doesn’t surprise me.

    Russell is “simplly fabulous”.

I live “normal”. The only enjoyment is the different. That’s why reading blogs is fun.

The Rolling Stone cover has stirred some controversy.

Yo Yo Ma’s assets re strictly controlled and rightly so but that is good to h ear.

    I clicked on Cooper’s blog
    The post was quite alright
    But then a scary sight
The comments were all in verse
    And I had not rehearsed!

Oh, one last thing to be said
    I’ve never seen Eraserhead

    • such a good sport you are.

I can’t imagine you tolerating Eraserhead. I saw it on television one late night they play it stuff on Independent Film channel a lot, but it is a hallucinatory nightmare and quite disturbing. I don’t recommend the movie.
it’s like having sex with someone, you really have to decide when the time is right, if ever.

  14. I’m late to the fun
    I’ve been outdone

    yo yo is cool
    Hitchcock a fool

    With Eric a crying
    Russell will be dying

Eraserhead is disturbing. Many things are. Doesn’t make them bad.

  15. I’ve never heard of Eraserhead. Thanks. I will try to keep it in the dark reaches of my brain to check it out.

I can’t stay into Trueblood. Its a good show, and I like it when I watch it, but I just can’t stay interested enough to keep watching. I think perhaps I find it a bit too mechanical in plot devices as a weekly series. I’ve always enjoyed most of Alan Ball’s stories ever since American Beauty. Maybe I’ll just catch up on dvd, or on a marathon.
As for Eat Prey Love, NO ONE could force me to see that.
