I’m mad at Whoopi. She’s totally off not to recognize that Mel Gibson is a racist, sexist, anti-Semite, Mad Max man.
Regardless, I have a hard time getting worked up about Mel Gibson. It is not like we didn’t already know he was bad news. There were clues. The 7 children with his first wife, the anti-Semitism and sexism displayed in the 2006 drunken rant, and The Passion of the Christ — all consequential indicators of zealous incongruity.
I was angry when Whoopi defended Polanski in the infamous Whoopi says it’s not rape rape incident because the topic as it applied to the story was relevant to the issue of at hand — rape. This Mel Gibson thing, while pertinent, is immaterial to the real the issues of race, misogyny, sexism. It’s relevant to Mel Gibson, his career, his lovers his haters, Radar Online’s pocketbook and so on. In the scheme of things – not so significant.
If anyone wants to discuss something directly related to the matters at hand, why not discuss the new political correctness requiring everyone who will run for office, or is in office and up for reelection during the next decade, to parrot that old “the tea party is not racist, just inclusive of few people who express racist views” slant.

My original post was about the song So In Love. I was distracted. I still want to post the song, if only because a blogger should always provide relief from the storm of their rants. That, and I’m recently obsessed with this song and it’s various incarnations — from Ella Fitzgerald to K.D. Lang.
Written originally for the musical Kiss Me Kate, there are hundreds of versions and styles of this Cole Porter song. I like most of them. This the Lara Fabian & Mario Frangoulis version as it is performed in the play Kiss Me Kate, in the film De-Lovely.
Peace

Brava, for the post and the hidden irony.

You’ve formed a politically correct stand on political shtuff.
I have lots of opinions you probably won’t like, including what some define as rape.
Regardless I live by one rule. Don’t inflict physical harm on anyone.
Opinions, talk gibberish, are all just that but actions speak volumes.
We’re allowing over crowding of this planet with dumb people buying junk.
Whether that’s politically correct or not, I don’t see it ending soon until catastrophe which some people would just love because that would bring meaning to their pointless existence. All I know is I don’t care what people say or think anymore. Non-actions speak louder than words.

I can’t say I’ve ever had a stance I didn’t believe in ….at least momentarily.
Is Mel Gibson getting worse with age or was he better at hiding his issues when he was younger. Either way he is someone that is dangerous to women and dangerous to idolize.

I never really paid him much attention except we has the Road Warrior videos when I was young and watched them incessantly.
Because he’s famous, he’s more influential, bit still a common creep – unfortunately, one of so many (and that’s siginificant ).

common creep says it best.
I liked the road warrior series, and Braveheart. I am sick of hearing about this above situations that the people have control over. We have no control over gibson. I think this coverage is over kill.
He is so dissipated looking in those paparazzi shots I’d feel bad were he not such a abomination.

Oh I agree.
I never liked Mel Gibson, he always seem creepy to me, and I’m increasingly disinterested in anything to do with Hollywood or the people who work there.
I like that song — I’ve never heard it before.

I have a few versions I’ll send them to you.
Once years ago I liked Mel Gibson
Living here I’m both impressed by all the “free thinkers” and scared of all the people who blindly follow many things and people
Blind following happens everywhere I guess, free thinking – well the real free thinking is almost in vogue again….;)
I was always more of a Costner guy anyway.
Was really hoping for a Have Read (Seen, Listened To) Will Miss post this week as I actually read a book this weekend :)
Oh well, I’ll save it for next time.
Hope you have a great week, Miss Cooper.

Yea I didn’t have time I actually flew to a weeding in Bermuda.
I’m looking forward to next week, possibly you will have read two books by then. ;)
It’s a beautiful Cole porter song no matter who sings it the film version is good.
Frank Sinatra’s version is not to my liking – K.D. Lang does it proud.
Sad how-people turn out.( Gibson)
Sad how the world turns out. Everything else.
