Quick Pass

My abode, peaceful for the last few months has been busy recently. The weekend with a smattering of friends and family, today and tomorrow my old friend John (from John’s Blog), and his current his GF. They’re are staying for a few days on their way south, she wants to see the “parks”. Later in the week two friends from California will descend for a couple of days.

Bruxism Sucks. My teeth hurt. From what I’m not sure, but rumor has it that I’m beginning to grind my teeth, surprising as I’ve never envisioned myself a teeth grinder. Intense does not describe me. Though one might find me fanatical on one or two issues, as a rule I’m fairly mellow. I have always been under the assumption that teeth grinding was for the zealous.

Drinking tepid wine and cold beer with friends, on a hot night, on a roof overlooking a small city, doesn’t suck.

The Gore’s separation doesn’t suck either. I can’t understand all the brouhaha. Doesn’t suck for Chris Matthews who is having fun with it — almost as if he has a vested interest in it. WTF. “Why are Hil and Bill still together and these guys not” he screams. “What’s wrong with the world if the Gore’s can’t stay together” someone says. Get a grip. The Gulf is fucked, the whole country should be on a collective march to the Gulf of Mexico, with a detour into Arizona, not sweating the Gore’s marriage.

Besides, sometimes love is only sleeping.

She looked at me
And the emptiness in her eyes was cruel to see
Then she turned away and said,
“Once I loved, but love is dead”
And I whispered, “Sometimes love is only sleeping”

Yawn

  1. Get a grip. The Gulf is fucked, the whole country should be on a collective march to the Gulf of Mexico, with a detour into Arizona, not sweating the Gore’s marriage.

Love it! You couldn’t be more right.

  2. You’d be surprised about bruxism. I’ve been easy-going to the point of needing DNR orders on my t-shirt all my life. The last couple years I’ve been grinding my teeth to the point of losing parts of a couple of them. My dentist just about referred me to a psychiatrist.

  3. The Gulf is a mess, that is true. But grinding ain’t so bad. You might even get comfy with the retainers.

As messy as the Gulf is, the situation in Nigeria has been going on for decades. At least the rebels haven’t taken over the Gulf yet with their blood shrimp.

    • You’re right about Nigeria, I saw a recent photo essay on it and it too is startling but so less close to home.

  4. I think Tipper & Al represented the last order in the universe to some of us. He’s the man who should have been president and none of what happened later might have happened. She’s just pleasantly complicated

And being less than half a decade younger–I now look at my friends who have been married forever and wonder…..They look at themselves and wonder

Teeth grinding–maybe that’s the new normal too. You and Doug…..

I’m not saying don’t sweat the Gulf. That’s beyond imaginable and horrible in every sense. The Gore’s might be a diversion

  5. Nice quote there at the end sounds like it came from a hopeless romantic.

  6. My wife used to grind her teeth, she has a mouth guard she wears when this happens, but it’s been a year or two and it has subsided.

The Gulf, was one of our natural wonders in a way and now it’s messed up for a long time. I don’t understand some people not caring. It may be that it’s too overwhelming.

I don’t have any interest in the Gores but I can see how people love to hear sad stories about the lives of others, because it makes their lives seem better.,

BP : they are the rip off rebels we haven’t come to full lunderstanding of it yet.

    • No doubt I understand they are ripping us off n more ways than one but what about those who let them including ourselves.

  7. I love that song. lol

My grandparents live near Pensacola…… ;(

One of the Gores have a nice new house on the beach in Southern CA. It’s hard for me to feel sad or sorry about them in any way.

  8. The No No’s did a good job with that song. I agree, you know that, sometimes there’s nothing for me to do but read and agree.

We might have to discuss your sudden fascination with Monkee Music though. ;)

  9. I have always been under the assumption that teeth grinding was for the zealous.

Oh no. I’m a grinder, too. Although perhaps you and I are the exceptions. Sometimes I catch myself grinding in the middle of the day and I’m like, “What are you doing, Bone? Freaking relax!”

The Gulf hits close to home for me. I aim to be outraged, but mostly it’s just sad. And of course, I continue to drive my gasoline-powered automobile every day.
    .-= Bone´s last blog ..Destin 2010 =-.

    • That’s good to know maybe it’s merely the closet neurotics who suffer. ;)

I look at the pictures and it is so awfully sad sometimes.

  10. “The Gulf is fucked”

Yes. If, the goo hits the Mississippi River, and gets into our drinking water I’ll go ballistic literally.

  11. My friend Joe in Fla. says most days he can SMELL the oil, and his home is 10 miles from the coast. I remember as a child in San Diego growing up playing at the beach and having tar stick to the bottom of my feet from an oil spill — it was miserable, and of course NOTHING compared to this horror. But my nephew dying of cancer suddenly Monday and me having to say something at his funeral tomorrow has me thinking of other things…

  12. I hope the bruxism is a passing thing. I don’t know much about it …the Gores..I love listening to gossip and I don’t feel the least bit sad about it.
