In 2007, wow three years ago, I wrote two poems for national poetry month and posted them in a blog post titled National Poetry Month — Write a Poem, Read a Poem.
Here is the favorite.
The Spoken Word
the written word
is many things
it makes me mad
invokes feelingto a certain degree
the written word
can make me think
but it won’t
get me out of synclike my old boyfriends
there are some things
it can not do
like kiss my lips
and it can’t unscrewthe wine I drink
the spoken word
is so much more
it gives me life
I can’t ignorethe human factor
seems funny now
as I get older
I thought I’d be brave
I’ve only gotten bolderI don’t want to be alone
with the spoken word
there must be flesh
a human being
that could enmeshme in their life
this all takes time
so writing was,
as reading is,
a pleasant pauseit let me breath
I’m breathing fine
maybe too well
I think maybe
it’s time to quellMy fear of life (my fear of love)
I don’t want
my soul to die
looking at
my purple skyI’m so tired of purple
the purple sky
you say is blue
It might be time
to find out whyYour sky is blue

Ooh! A deeper glimpse into your enigmatic soul! I like!
“enigmatic”
like that
I so love when you poetry, Miss Cooper. You should make it a habit.

I will have to write something this summer.
I love it. One should always be single, if only for an hour or two, in April.
exactly
I love this poem and remember it now that you’ve posted it again.
When April is over
what then my friend?

“When April is over
what then my friend?”
Those sound like the ending of a poem as well.
Or a short poem. Indeed dear g you have written a poem.
I was in Italy for a couple of years , so it’s good of you to post again the things worthwhile I might have missed .
Did you write this really? Who would have figured.

You should have figured. you knew me in my more creative days.
Nice work it was and still is.
thanks kait
I love poetry, and always wish I had more time to sit, be quiet, and just read…
Great poem!

There is rarely tie for that these days is there. If only. But I imagine time is even more hard to find for you.
The spoken word is a great name for a poetry club.
