Another RIP

It always frightens me to see men younger than my father falling like flies.

I forgot who Alex Chilton was, my father reminded me in an email.

The world remembers most fondly Big Star , so I’ll post the well known, but less heralded — not as cool piece, by the Box Tops.

RIP

Peace

  1. Been a while since I last heard this. Never saw the vid before — he’s got interesting eyes…

    More poetry please!

  2. I think of this as a Joe Cocker song. Am I younger than your dad?

    RIP

  3. I know Big Star more than The Box Tops, a college friend was a Bigg Star fanatic, this is the first rendition – before Cocker’s and it is pretty sweet.

  4. There were some freaky songs with the Boxtops early on. One in particular – “Sweet Cream Ladies” is a classic, or so I’m told.It was about prostitution and was banned in some places.

MOst of this I just heard for the first time last night. Not the Big Star stuff – but the boxtop stuff.

  6. Love that song. Original power pop. Alex Chilton was very cool. He played a lot in the club most people knew my name–lines would be down the block–this was in the 80′s. He was gorgeous also–from a girl POV

Scares you! Frightens me something fierce. And the obits here. Normal for women in their 50′s to pass–as they say

My friend and I were talking last night about the amount of “youthful” death. We think it’s more poor diet from babyhood on than anything else–then cigarettes

    • He was gorgeous.

I know it does seem like a lot of people are dying but then again there are a lot of older people, more and more every year so not all folks are dying early and there are more old women than men..so don’t worry.

  7. That’s a cool song. I hadn’t heard it before I don’t think. If only my father would email about things like that instead of email me to call my gram.

    He is pretty adorable too.

  8. Looks like someone’s high school surfer dude boyfriend..if you know what I mean. ;)

    Just saying.

I think there is something to be said for old music. A lot to be said actually. Makes us look bad.

  9. I too remember it as a Joe Cocker song, because I am not of the 60′s generation. This is a good version – the video is pretty interesting visually.
