American Apparel contest has sparked a petition protest.
If I thought it would do any good I’d sign the petition, but on reviewing the success of American Apparel’s (bordering on pornographic), marketing tactics over the years, I don’t think it would do any good. People need to stop buying the stuff in order for petitions to work and it just hasn’t happened here. Won’t happen. Throwing up a petition…easy. The root of the problem it is more difficult to tackle, and not nearly as fun to write about. Sex sells. More often than not anything which denigrates women, or represents women with body parts, sells. That is the problem. Solve that and you won’t have to worry about hundreds of young women rushing to expose their junk in hopes of becoming America’s Next Top Buttock, you won’t have to worry about signing sad little petitions either.
There’s no doubt this contest is disturbing on many levels, the most disturbing being that I probably wouldn’t object to participating in this contest if my winning it meant that say…everyone in the world would have clean drinking water, vaccinations and vitamins.

There’s something about looking at hundreds of butts that is time worthy, and enjoyable, but I can certainly see the point of those who object to this kind of marketing. If it were just something we could do for no reason at all it would be fun.…????
I am not familiar to any degree with their marketing or their clothing except it is supposed to be made in America.
Was the call just for female butts? The ad wasn’t clear to me but I didn’t see any make butts.

I just submitted mine. Regular skivvies cover too much, won’t be caught dead in tighty whities, and I couldn’t find a thong to borrow, soooo… hope they don’t send it back with a request to shave.

I sort of take it as my personal responsibility to make certain that I get an adequate dose of female well exposed detailed nudity that most forms of marketing such as this don’t bother me much. I guess you could say I’m desensitized so that things like this don’t cause me much alert at all.
For me balance is an important personal responsibility I take very seriously. To be held self accountable for one’s self mental stability I consider most important. So things like this kind of make me roll my eyes. It’s far too tame for me to be bothered by.
BTW, nice little butt drawing, you do that yourself? It needs a birthmark or something.

My friend’s daughter had to win a contest in order to work at American Apparel. They only hire the best looking people they can find which I know is illegal but I guess if you do it in a contest…
I find it sickening. I find it more sickening that her parents actively encouraged her but she’s been brought up to go to college to find a rich handsome husband. I thought that had ended in the 70’s but I guess I was wrong

This one’s beyond gross. That I couldn’t say anything about because unfortunately a job is a job. She needed one and her parents were proud she turned out so pretty. She was just graduating high school and I think shows the early advantages of looks
