Trust Women, Blog For Choice 2010

January 22nd, 2010 by cooper

Stunned, but not surprised, at the Supreme Court decision giving corporations increased pershood ( Corporate Personhood), allowing them to wield all their power and money to purchase candidates and elections, and seeing a distinct trend, I thought it important to take part in Blog for Choice again this year.

Today is the 5th Blog For Choice day held in the blogesphere, an event historically held on the anniversary of Roe v Wade. Today is the 37th anniversary of Roe v Wade.

The topic is: What does Trust Women mean to you?

Simply, it means have enough respect for a women to allow women to make their own choices about what to do with their lives and their bodies.

As I have pointed out on this blog time and time again, women with money will always have a choice no matter the legality, but women who are not as fortunate from a socioeconomic standpoint will suffer most if Roe v Wade is overturned, they suffer the most when choice is taken away. Who is anyone to take choice from anyone else?

Exactly.

But there’s wisdom in women, of more than they have known,
And thoughts go blowing through them, are wiser than their own,

There are some wonderful blog postings on this topic at the Blog for Choice site, please check them out here

peace

How distressing — corporations have more personhoood than people.

Big business will always have more legal rights than the individual. It’s the way our country works unfortunately.

It’s the least they could do — trust women. I was reading an article about how older feminist’s feel that younger women do not protest enough because the young don’t appear at Washington protests — I would love someone to tackle that in a post. hint hint

Things are definitely going in a way one would never have expected .…given what appeared to be good progressive momentum.

You’re right to do a second take and post this.

Kait – baby boomers are blamed for every problem in America and probably the world. Everything’s our fault. Yet that older woman actively protest isn’t acknowledged – probably makes the problems worse

It’s not just protests in DC – that’s a symbol. But it would be very nice to see younger women not debate the viability of fetuses or see so many say they no longer know if abortion is right. That choice might be the ability to use condoms or other birth control methods

It’s scary to see this country go backwards when so many people have worked for so many years to make it go forward

I wash my hands of everything as I can’t count on health insurance reform, and have to make back the money I have lost in the last few years. Something that wouldn’t have been on my radar just ten years ago.

It’s all interrelated to seeing younger people (I don’t exempt men) overtly fighting for choice

I exempt Cooper as she was born an old soul who has always kept issues burning in peoples consciences

The whole concept of corporations having personhood runs contrary to what the Founders intended; that “Founders followers” like Scalia and Roberts issue a ruling which runs contrary their own beliefs is unbelievable. That on top of the little-known fact that corporate personhood is the result of an uncorrected clerical error from over 200 years ago is equally mindboggling. Bad law piled onto top of bad unlaw. Welcome to the 21st Century. …

I think those days are gone one would starve and I am not one for starving. Though moving away from it all and living off the land with high speed computer access of course is always an option.

      • KAKNo Gravatar says:

That is an option for me if my work runs out, my family has a farm.…get the tractor running again, put the plows on, a crop of fine herb in the greenhouse, work mornings.……afternoons, swing in a hammock between two trees with a kick ass stereo making it sound like Pink Floyd is playing on a cloud as the odor of fine herb floats up toward the sky.….….dine under the apple trees .….There is a cider press and a 7Gal still .….….….….….….Cooper, I’m almost hoping my work does run out! I’d let you paint a flower on my forehead Cooper.
