It astounds me that within a short jaunt of what are vacation retreats for many, and second homes for some, there is a country with the infrastructure of a post apocalyptic movie. And that before the quake.
How is it that a country so close to the boats we cruise on, and the beaches we enjoy, can be a place of such absolute poverty in such never-ending social chaos?
The post earthquake devastation one way for the world to see the failure (some would say disproof of existence) of Pat Robertson’s god.

I’ve already sent into Wyclef’s fund, but I’m considering further ways to help. Normally, I try to remain neutral when disasters occur so far from home, but this seems like an especially worthy cause to offer a show of support.

It’s so easy to help via a text message, and they need the money that is for sure. I wonder at the simplicity of it all though.
Pat Robertson and so many of his ilk are true asshats. They are proof that not all of nature’s laws are inviable. Still, and despite Robertson’s ability to remain on this planet, I do believe that nature abhors a vacuum.
Haiti has suffered greatly at the hands of mother nature. Even more than it has suffered at the hands of the brigantines. It is during times such as these that we get to see the true nature of man – good and horrid.

great article. i didn’t realize i can donate money just by texting. it is a little scary. do you know how it works? does it get added to my bill? that is really convenient. we could add that to tv commercials, e-commerce sites, billboards, etc. hopefully everyone uses it for haiti for now…
