I own Michael Phelps, so I’ve got to post this, but please check out the Old School Friday Post preceding this.

Michael Phelps won the 100 Fly at the World Championships in Rome. He also set a new world record. Unlike the Olympics, where there was a contentious photo finish, there was no photo finish this time. He broke the world record set by the man he beat in Beijing, the same man he beat tonight, a man who set the world record, only last night, in the semi-finals. Milorad Cavic. Cavic thinks he beat Phelps in Beijing, and it looked like possibly Cavic would be vindicated, after his world record semi-final time, and considering Phelps has been merely good at this championship. In the end Phelps won the event in record time, and he did it with the old suit. Cavic was wearing the newer high tech suit, something that was an issue in Beijing where Michael had the newer more technically advantageous suit. Cavic, rumored to have been trash talking Phelps over the last few days, though seconds ago on national television denied it was trash talking, should probably stay quiet next time.
Congratulations Michael.
No major news articles on this yet, I’ll link to them when they pop up.
Cavic has a lot to say before facing Phelps in a final at worlds.
