It’s old school Friday, and the theme this week is My First Love.
I’d love to put something sexy hot and personal here. I want to keep my job more. Though you’d be right to point out there are certainly things posted here, dangerous mindless posts, written long ago while prone on the floor of a college dorm, not representative of where I’m at now, that would surely be forgiven by those who would snoop into archives to investigate my virtue. Nevertheless, it’s best I keep my current posting as innocent as a baby, forgoing the music I think of when I think of my first “real love”, and along with it the sordid tale that would out of necessity have to accompany it.
For the sake of respectability I’ll reminisce on my very first love, Daemon. The love affair between us was long, as love affairs go. It began when I was in the later part of my 3rd year, almost 4 years old. I loved him because he had video games, and I wanted to play them. From The Legend of Zelda to The Ocarina of Time, I was a tiny video game addict player, always sneaking across the sandy grass to Daemon’s house to play Mario, and Zelda. These were the first two video games I played, and along with the original Final Fantasy and Tetris, the only ones.
Daemon moved to mainland Australia when I was around 8. Truth be told, it was a relief to get rid of that little creep. He had transformed over time from a rather pleasant non threatening 4 year old into a rather tyrannical 8 year old, demanding change and candy for video game time. Fortunately, by the time Daemon moved I had, with help from my brother, cajoled my parents into purchasing our own stock of the very best, non mind distorting, video games around.
Here’s to you Daemon, where ever you may be.
The music from the The Legend of Zelda, and others in the Zelda series. Much of it written by Koji Kondo.
A nice violin presentation of the music, Zelda: Ocarina of Time. This is pretty spectacular.
