Questions I Must Ask

Questions that must be asked.

Where in the World Is Carmen Sandiego Governor Mark Sanford. No wait, maybe it should be why do we care where in the world Governor Mark Sanford is?

Why didn’t I know that David Rhode was kidnapped by the Taliban last year?

Why you just can’t trust anyone to do their jobs, or take care of the interests of those they serve?

I mean why is Wonkette now covering the news as well as any major media outlet?

Why does a metro train, set on automatic, a train of a type in a similar accident in 2004, get two months behind on brake maintainance? For that matter why is a model recommended for replacement due to concerns about how these old things will hold up in crashes and or some indication the sensor on that model had been problematic, still remain in service?

As someone who takes the metro periodically it is a little disconcerting to know how old these cars actually are, many dating back to the 70’s, and given the record of metro the last couple of year it probably is worth noting. Train Car in Rear-End Accident Was Overdue for Brake Work

How do 9,000 bottles of pathogens go undiscovered at Fort Detrick? I have a stake in this as I’ve posted before in “Who Ya Gonna Call When There’s Anthrax in The Hall” I don’t live that far from there, and as I’ve written before about the whole anthrax filled envelopes situation that occurred here when I was in high school, it doesn’t make one feel particularly secure.

Yea, just a bunch of vials which happen to be left out of the database and accumulated over the decades. Vials which, because they were not in the database, could easily have been taken and used to harm any number of people, like that the anthrax of a few years back which also supposedly came from Fort Detrick.

Why we so quickly seem to forget about the mess of Iraq.

Has anyone seen my Visa check card?

  • Heh. Did you look under the complaints section of the newspaper? Sometimes I leave my credit cards there.

  • Good questions, all. And I’m really sorry that I never got to play the Carmen Sandiego game. I would have liked that.

Cancel that card and get another one. (I’m in a serious mood tonight)

  • I’ve been meaning to say that I really adore the kitty in headphones:)

    • Yea I canceled it as it never turned up. Loved that game though.
I like the kitty too it is far better than some, though I like it when people have their own avatars too.

  • Yea really, who knew the metro record was getting so bad, it used to be pretty well kept, but has suffered some the last few years — obviously.

I picture random mad scientist wannabe’s running all over the state or the world with the “lost” vials. I’m confident that we’re in grave danger from everything everyday. Live while the living is good.

My check card is usually at the grocery store.

    • add “why did four Iranian soccer players all off a sudden “retire” to your list.

    • You know they are, mad scientists that is. I just read about that, no big surprise but good for them, seriously for standing up to it.

  • That situation at Fort Detrick reminds me of all of those Resident Evil video games based on the idea of old abandoned science labs, which of course usually lead to brain eating zombies. We already have those, without abandoned test labs.

People wonder why, people such as myself become paranoid when so much responsibility is left to people to carrying on mundane daily routines can could easily effect us all.
These retired scientists, and train maintenance people act like McDonald’s employees leaving the important health safety to the next shift to worry about. It’s disturbing.
News in America, ain’t News anymore because TV has to sell ads.
Too many people are leaving the responsibility to you to look out for yourself.
There’s that old conservative republican mentality. If I help them, how can I get money from doing so? Don’t care, unless it directly effects me, seems to be the logic of that.
    Yucky.

    • The stories that come out of there are frightening at times, but I think half of them are urban legends, I know a few people who have worked their, scientists, over time and they don’t seem completely crazy. ;)

  • Alright, who had Argentina in the Mark Sanford pool?

Carmen Sandiego? I was more of a Mathnet guy myself. Less participatory.
Bone´s last blog ..Unfriending is (not that) hard to do

    • ha, ha, I just now heard that on my way home from work. I am like who gives a crap. Not me.
I’m not surprised on the matchnet confession.

  • I think the whole “missing governor” thing is weird, or maybe it’s just the way they are handling it that is weird.

The best we can do is be vigilant no one is looking out for us. That metro thing was startling. They’ve set up $250,000 fund for immediate needs of the victims and are bracing for millions of dollars in law suits. The problem with metro is they are already strapped for cash, that is why these things happen.
    jacob´s last blog ..It’s Wednesday

    • I just wondered why they bothered with it were they really worried? his wife didn’t seem to give a damn.

  • I thought I was the only one who didn’t know the reporter was kidnapped because I don’t read the news, then I find out it was all hush hush. 9000 is a lot of missing pathogens. I wonder how many scientist took some bugs home?

I’ve always prefer to drive when in D.C.

It takes forever to get my check card in the mail when I lose it. I’ve lost quite a few of them.

  • “We can die anywhere at any time, that is my motto.“
This is true though I prefer it were due to my own negligence.

  • I’m excited because I live in SC, and Sanford was a fascinating character. Not that I would ever have voted for him. He used to go to work barefoot – I don’t know why I like that so much. And he truly believed in state’s rights in a good way though a shoot yourself in the foot way

I didn’t know the reporter was kidnapped and I thought I read the Times most days. Maybe I just thought so
pia´s last blog ..Why I’m just supernaturally calm….

  • I’ve thought the same thing about wonkette. I thought that was more of a pop culture, socialite site. Good news though, Sanford has been located. I’m sure he’s wishing he hadn’t.
