Sunburnt from running in the sun sans sunscreen I’m sitting around wondering whether to opt for a light beer, a water, or the South African Merlot/Cabernet Sauvignon combo my housemate bought on clearance (yea I’m opting for the light beer). Sunday evening, never a good time for thought, brings out the links in me.
Quick notes:
Dear President Obama, you are really sucking on the health care issue, and though I know you are busy try to concentrate, and please keep us out of I fucking ran.
I don’t care one way or another what some old late night comedienne/talk show host says about anyone. I am a little sick of old men constantly making their jokes at the expense of women, without said jokes being at all contributive to or reflective of anything but of the minds of washed up dirty old men.
What is wrong with Netanyahu.
Things you might enjoy:
Some great pictures via the Scarlett’s Lion’s Surfing Liberia or as presented on the BBC. You will love these even if you don’t surf.
Also a link to a video on the film Sliding Liberia: surfing in a war-torn country. G posted this last week.
Doug ponders a no party (or sole party, can’t be sure) in Prattler Party of One
Things you should know:
Probably not a good idea to send your kids to an amusement park that just declared bankruptcy. Though I hear that composite they use on planes now isn’t such a sure thing either.
Opening here and there during film festival season. BURMA VJ – Reporting from a closed country Anders Ostergaard directed, it uses video footage shot secretly during the 2007 monks’ demonstration, by the Democratic Voice of Burma, based in Oslo, Norway. NYT review. I have yet to catch it, but there are plenty of reviews around.
For those in the D.C. area this week Silver Docs will be in Progress.
That pesky dashboard is reminding me it’s time to upgrade to WP 2.8. My energy tonight goes to calming my fears about a total disintegration of the blog. I’ve had it awhile, the blog that is. It holds a special place in my heart.
If this blog goes down, remember where the love was found.
PEACE

I always pictured you as a wine person myself. But knowing you’ve selected the beer, brings this blog a whole new meaning.

Depends on what’s available the wine we had didn’t seem to appealing that night. I’m pretty accommodating.
What about whiskey? I usually lay off that myself.

Two things: first, I knew gin was your drink, Bombay Sapphire, I believe. Second, did you tweet something? My counter is running 25x normal.
I think they have medication for that.
Possibly, can’t remember.
You deserve a stumble for rememebering.
If I upgraded, you certainly can. Though I see absolutely no difference – the last upgrade or the one before that was fun
pia´s last blog ..Paul Krugman on terrorism
I never have success unless I do it manually because I guess of my plug ins and things i change in my themes. Haven’t done it yet I’ll do it eventually.
Put your feet up, have a beer and link, what a way to spend the night.
Loved the surf pictures. I don’t surf but the photography was nice. I will check more links in the morning. I hope we mind our business too but I’ve seen some scary suggestions out there.
casey´s last blog ..Welcome to Bawlmer Hon, 2009 Hon Fest
Actually there is some very interesting reading on the subject there now and a few friends of mine from where I used to work have relatives in Iran and are communication with them.
I hear a lot of women complaining about men making jokes at women’s expense.
Simple fact of the matter is, just as women have fought to gain equal rights. Men have grown irritated with the simple fact that any woman can have sex with any man, with relatively no effort. Where as the man must make himself appealing. Seldom do many women care to understand the men’s POV, but complain about the harshness of the after effects.
The only time a woman has to struggle to get a man, is if she’s over weight. Fair? No. It is the way it is.
So yes, men in general do have discourse with the simple truth that women always have the unfair advantage. I’m not saying any of it is right, or wrong, but if you’re going to hold so much anger at men, then you should at least attempt to look deeper into this anger. Anger is usually a sign of denial, or of unresolved resentments , just like the bittered men.
Take a peek from the other side. Not a big one. Just a tiny glimpse.
Bennet´s last blog ..Philosophical Quandary Of Our Existence
Coop loves men and they love her, and she has a valid point or two most of the time. Her disadvantage comes from treating and viewing women and men exactly the same and not understanding that others do not do this or why they don’t.
Awesome photos. That video was cool too, the movie even better. Let’s do LA. A short flight is less than 8 hours, hours less than capetown.

Well I am in total disagreement with you on this Bennett.
g you are way too lively for your own good here.
Yes it is not that long a flight compared to other places, a friend of mine is from there and is actually going back possibly to live for good again, so …possible.
Ah, yes. When in doubt, simply disregard completely. Only accept what suits. Business as usual.
Bennet´s last blog ..Philosophical Quandary Of Our Existence
Not disregarded but already mulled over time and time ago the argument is not one that I understand or am familiar with and from what I see it is hardly significant just a thought. It doesn’t occupy much of my time these silly man women things but they are annoying.
Anyways, I’m sorry. I don’t mean to be so confrontational. This is a topic that bothers me because I think there’s more to it, and it’s hardly ever addressed in detail because of the root of the issue is the problem.

Wow, I haven’t been to Six Flags in like eight years. Maybe if I had gone more often…
It has become a weekly occurrence for me to ponder ending my blog. As blog life expectancies go, I think we’re definitely pushing the envelope here.

Only 8 years bone?
I don’t think I’ve ever been there. lol
Sometimes I wish I could sleep for ten years and wake up and see if anything has changed. I hear you on the old men, my wife expresses that same sentiment.
The financial situtation make mes wonder about any amusement park. With Disney Park admissions down I wonder if they are maintaining their equipment.
I’m happy where I sit not having to upgrade anything.

Did you watch Netanyahu’s speech too? Although everyone was hailing it as a step forward, and I guess it is for a right-wing PM, I was still disappointed at the long list of ridiculous conditions he listed out.
Nisha´s last blog ..A revolution in Iran, where Twitter plays a part
I do not think this is going to help the situation in any way, there is such a divide though both here and there. My boyfriends father is Jewish and his relatives live in Israel, they were extremely disappointed in his speech, if not angry and tired of it all.
Netanyahu’s conditions may seem cumbersome to us who live so many miles away, but to the people who live THERE, those conditions are a must. Still, it is a step forward. But will the Palestinians reciprocate by voicing approval for Israel’s right to exist?
sauerkraut´s last blog ..Sarah Palin lies about David Letterman routine, updates
Like I said above it is not necessarily the case for those who have lived with this, people here see it via propaganda the people there see what is really happening.
Cooper. I love your writing style and the slight cynicism in your work. It’s really excellent stuff. And most, if not all, of what you said-was 100% legitimate (i.e. healthcare etc). Enjoy your week

I enjoyed reading your blog post the other day and hope too and hope to stop by often.
The situation in Iran is fascinating but yea we should observe from a distance and wish them the best but publicize as much as we can about it.
Virtual amusement parks are safer.

We may have to do more but we have to see what happens this week. Encouraging them to let in journalists and stop jailing their own would be a start.
