Henry VIII 1, Roman Catholic Church and Scientology 0, Pietasters 20.

May 29th, 2009 by cooper

Henry, or at least Liz, must be smiling with satisfaction from the grave over the continued recruiting success of the Anglican Church, even their bastard branch. In this case, Episcopalians get themselves a hot Latino charismatic priest with a large television fan base in Miami. Better to have a fiancée than a 10 year old boyfriend. The Catholic Church should be relieved. Episcopalians are not really doing a favor though. Face it, any sect would be proud to take him in, if not steal him outright, and the name, Cutié. How special is that?

More on Scientology, only because the previous post included a tidbit on Scientology, from The Register via Mashable’s Wikipedia to Church of Scientology: You’re Banned! , says one cult to another.

In an unprecedented effort to crack down on self-serving edits, the Wikipedia supreme court has banned contributions from all IP addresses owned or operated by the Church of Scientology and its associates.

Tucker Carlson’s The Daily Caller to launch soon. Interesting disaster in the making. I kind of hoped he would have called it the daily poop, crap, or some derivative. I wish him better luck with this than he’s had with all his past endeavors. I know failing is s good thing for the life growth scale, but how many times can you fail without finally giving it up? I find it hard to believe Carlson could ever allow real journalism on his site, despite him constantly saying how much he supports it. His penchant for getting the last word in is surely going to make this no more than a slightly less crazy, more heavily subsidized, Red State.

I’m going to see The Pietasters later tonight. They’re playing within walking distance from here. They won’t go on until 10, and as my age belies my energy these days a nap will be in order.

How Fricking cool is that? Especially the “walking distance no need to park” part?

Answer: Pretty Fricking cool.

I’ll probably be out all night. ;)

Had to think about that first part, don’t know too many people who call Queen Elisabeth liz…ha ha.

Are you calling Wikipedia a cult?

they only notice when the typically “hot” priests leave?

i am dumb to the Pietasters. You’re an old ska girl aren’t you? I forget because you sometimes sound over your age and out of the realm of the fun and crazy.

    Who would have thunk it?
Scientology’s worst enemy could be people (on Earth) with free thinking brains with possible conflicting opinions.

Darth Vader:“I find your lack of faith disturbing.“
Then that’s when Darth Vader would use his kinetic powers to choke the person.

They are actually awesome. They sometime use different types of fiddles including the standard violin, last night for instance there was a fiddler.

The priest defection is entertaining. Is Carlson really bothering? Guess his mom ponied up some more dough. Eventually something has to work.

    a cult banning a cult — cute.

Pietasters/ Final Leno Tonight Show. No contest.

i saw them once in D.C. awesome when I saw them. I was much younger and quite drunk, but I remember it affectionately — in a rough way of course.

His mom is some heiress or other isn’t she, can’t remember who though and I’m not interested enough to look it up.

A far better clip of them at the 9:30 club. I know that went with the theme of the post but this is a pretty good clip.

I hoped thought Carlson was out of the business.

I don’t talk religion, with a family full of priests and all, but that is one smooth looking priest.

I look forward to Carlson’s site. Right now Pat Buchanan has the best right-leaning site and that shouldn’t continue a day longer than necessary.

Um, I should add to the above comment. @TAC, which Buchanan started is the best righty blog, EXCEPT when Buchanan posts. He’s still an idiot.

How many times can you fail without finally giving it up? Will let you know by winter

When I went to the The Pietaster’s wiki entry I became hung up on proper writing for Wiki. I never knew there were standards

I think Doug deserves a good right site. He has to hang with the left to get any true stimulation at all

He could make his own, he already has the Prattler which is far better than anything else out there even though it might be above the level that most “Red State” readers can comprehend.

How were they? Nice, they played in your small city.
Wikipedia is pretty dangerous too, as you pointed out, ha ha.

Someone told me once, in all seriousness, that priests would be no good were they not celibate.

Couldn’t remember for a moment who Tucker Carlson is. I don’t think he’ll be counting on me for participation.

Guys like Cutie make me sick. Why take the vows if you aren’t going to follow them? The guy needs to decide if he truly wants to be in a ministry. Until he decides that, he isn’t morally fit to be a greeter at Wal-Mart.

With my feelings on religion beiNg what they are this doesn’t bother me a bit. he can minister and have sex. I think religion is so full of hypocrites doing the ministering that it really doesn’t seem much of a point to me to consider this any big deal.

Hate it when you who complains about others turned off comments turns off yours. “Now he is a martyr” is one of the greatest lines you have written for we who might not truly believe in late term abortions believe more in a woman’s right to choose

My brain’s on sun power – not truly functioning and what I thought about Dr Tiller’s murder escaped me until I read that one line
