Lavena Johnson. I haven’t written of her case in some time because, despite all the congressional hearings late last year on the issue of sexual assault in the military, her case has never been specifically addressed, and the case has yet to be reopened. A new president was elected, and so on and so forth. I’m sure this makes a cover up military case from 2005 (in which an 18 year old female solider deployed for less than two months and found in a condition which reeked of rape and murder but pronounced a suicide) not a priority. Nowhere fast is the term.
Dark Secrets is a piece about Lavena Johnson running on SBS Dateline in Australia the 29th of May, according to Lavena Johnson web site. You can view the show directly now Dark Secrets.

Thanks for this :) You would think it would be a priority in a new president’s term–to show what he is made of
In my circle here, you’re not allowed to criticize anything about him or his admin–considered racist and not giving them a chance

I thinks there is some kind of thought that to dis the military for the nasty stuff that happens would be unpatriotic and bad for moral. It almost appears she was murdered possibly by a contractor, but the case is so obviously a poorly done cover-up I wonder if the military just assumed no one would notice, even her parents. This is really one of the most horrific cases I have read of, though there are many cases of rape in the military…seems don’t ask don’t tell involves things other than sexual preference.
As with Pat Tillman, the truth W I L L come forward… may take some time, but it will happen.
I think 4 years is way too long. Doesn’t speak well for justice or getting things done in general.
One of the best things about blogs is their memory. Thanks for keeping up with this and keeping us semi-up.
