“If My Mama Only Knew” is the theme for this weeks old School Friday.
My mother did know, at least most of the time. Sure maybe she didn’t know that I was in a park in D.C. seeing Fugazi and getting Ian Mackaye’s email address when I was 14, but that was only because it would have exposed my brother’s complicity in the transporting of a bunch of us 9th graders over the “state-line” into D.C. without their parents permission only a week after getting his license, and I didn’t want to get him in trouble .;)
She knew because I wasn’t adept at hiding things, as I wrote here, on the circumstance where Jagged Little Pill was returned to the store from whence it came, with much humiliation on my part, after my mother heard the words to You Outta Know.
What she probably doesn’t know is that I always wanted to make love with In A-Gadda-Da-Vida playing in the background. So yea, don’t tell her OK?

In A-Gadda-Da-Vida, huh? Nice…
Alanis…there are no words that can even begin to describe how much I adore her…
Very nicely done today, Coop…
I was feeling pretty blue with Tiger falling behind at the Master’s, but the wanting to have sex to “In A-Gadda-Da-Vida”, now that makes me smile.

Possibly the first thing we’ve ever agreed on. Call me.
I feel so sad for the hopeful young men in Baltimore. Who the hell would think of Iron Butterfly for seduction songs? The ghost of Barry White is sad now, too.

You Oughta Know is something some of us should have been saying to ourselves. I definitely should have known my mother knew what I was up to… most of the time.

There’s not much my mother knew, and I’d like to keep it that way until I’m fifty years old. It makes
The In A-Gadda-Da-Vida idea is not bad.
