I’m Hot Just Like Your Oven On Old School Friday

April 3rd, 2009 by cooper

It’s old School Friday, an event I missed last week. I wanted to be certain to catch it this week. The theme this week is “If I were a Boy”. Of course I have no idea what that means from an OSF standpoint. I couldn’t cheat and see where anyone else was going with this because no one seems to have one up yet. Beating my head against the wall, realizing I’m not as smart as I think I am, I’m giving up.

Let’s go here.

I were a boy.… I’d be pretty much the same as I am now, except I’d have a penis, something I’ve never coveted, in case you are wondering. I’d like the same music, though it’s possible I’d replace my fondness for men who play stringed instruments with a similar fondness for females, though there are no guarantees.

Some things would not change.

If I were a boy.… nothing from nothing would still leave nothing, and you’d still have to have something if ya wanted to be with me.

Billy Preston, Nothing from Nothing.

If I were a boy.… I’d probably sing this song at karaoke night.

The Cars, My best Friends Girl.

If I were a boy.…. I suppose I’d still need sexual healing.

Ben Harper’s acoustic version of Sexual Healing.

OSF sponsored by Miss Marv and Mrs Grapevine

If you were a boy, I daresay you might be a mite less interesting. After all, who would want to read a male-driven blog in the first place? Nothing of any great import was ever written by a male author.

I read a lot of male driven blogs, though I’ve never compared, I don’t necessary look to see the gender of the blogger before deciding to continue reading a blog. I’ve dropped a lot of make blogger read recently too.

I can’t picture you at a karaoke night but that’s as good a song as any for karaoke. Billy Preston was incredibly talented.
I like Harper’s version of Sexual Healing, sometimes more than Marvin’s.

I can’t wait to come back for Harper – I still buy CD’s – and want his newest. Marvin was in a class by himself. We christened the opening of the stereo with Marvin then the Coasters – if you don’t know them well you will one day. Not taking away from Ben; think he’s wonderful

I loved this post. The thought of you with a penis is slightly scary to me.

You’re one of the few people I truly listen to and have since I first “knew” you

This theme was challenging but your perspective is an interesting one. Women who play stringed instruments? Maybe Michelle Ndegeocello? India.Arie?

    Happy Old School Friday!

    The Cars, that was fun.

I like the acoustic version of Sexual Healing. i wouldn’t know what to do with that theme either, it was a good slant.

God I love Billy Preston. Concert for Bangladesh, he rocked it.
The Cars? ha ha, that would be good karaoke.
I’ve heard Harper’s acoustic version and a more spiced up version, he did Marvin proud.

I liked the Cars better before they went big. But I liked that model much better after she married Rick O. Amazing that some of the prettiest women marry some of the most ugliest men. Christy Brinkley and Billy Joel is another example. What is the attraction to butt ugly musicians?
