I’m extremely annoyed at the continuing tax saga.
The husband of President Obama’s choice to head the Labor Department paid about $6,400 Wednesday to settle tax liens that had been outstanding for as long as 16 years against his business, the Obama administration said Thursday.
If Johnny Smith didn’t pay a few dollars worth of his taxes via an honest mistake, and for some reason he didn’t find out about it until 5 years later, a five-hundred dollar mistake could cost him thousands of dollars in interest and penalties, and if by some chance he couldn’t afford to pay the interest and penalties on his forty thousand a year, or less, income he could have his paycheck confiscated or end up in jail. You can be sure they’d find him too, because it seems to be standard practice for the IRS to hound the people who probably did make an honest mistake and leave those who make hefty incomes alone. I know this because it happened to a friend of mine. He was 18 and had flied his first tax return when this occurred. He had something like a thousand dollar old IRA of a grandparent who died it was left to him), and which he mistakenly didn’t claim, last year ( 5 years later) he had graduated from college owing thousands of dollars and was barely able to pay for an apartment and food, he was working two jobs when he was notified about this little mistake but the kicker is the penalties and interest were similar to the the loan sharking rates of Citi-Bank and Capital-One Visa.
Now my advice for those who die, (taxman)
Declare the pennies on your eyes. (taxman)
‘Cause Im the taxman,
Yeah, Im the taxman.
This is really pissing me off.
A “comments off”, “blowing my stack” production.
