Dear Mr. Bush,
We have discovered quite by accident, if you will allow me a slight play on words, that it is possible to keep your head, conquer fear, and do the right thing, even in a split second from a pressure cooker. This was Proven on the Hudson River last week by Capt. Chesley B. Sullenberger. Who knew? An omen, perhaps, of things to come?
We’ve been saying goodbye to you, Mr. Bush, in our hearts for so long we can hardly believe the time has finally arrived. We are exhausted, grateful you are leaving without a fight,
and yes, we are hopeful enough to consider Omen’s, at least for the next few days.
For those who haven’t made the trek to D.C., those who are going to watch the festivities from home, remember, you can watch the H.B.O. Lincoln Memorial concert this afternoon, whether you have HBO or not. They’ve opened up their signal for the concert for you to view between football games, so as soon as your teams starts losing head on over.
Don’t forget day of service.
You can find an event in your area, or host one. I’ll be attending one at the Art’s Council here. There are ten thousand service events listed at the site, so go check it out.
Peace

Monday is a day on not a day off, right? My teams aren’t in the playoffs anymore, but I still be I don’t watch the concert.

It is a day off from my uni as they are closed Monday and Tuesday, at least academic instruction is closed. I’m actually working in the morning doing something I usually don’t do because others are going to the inauguration.
By the way, “We’ve been saying goodbye to you, Mr. Bush, in our hearts for so long we can hardly believe the time has finally arrived. ” was a great line and true.

Fact for me is I’ve been saying goodbye to the president of this country from the time I moved back to this country, prior to that I have no memory,
Yes, our soon-to-depart president has spent the past 8 years showing the entire country that he is no Capt. Sullenberger.

That fits (too well).
Ain’t that the truth.
They are rocking it, so far. you can tell those people both on and off stage are just happy to be there. That’s the best part.
I love that line too.
If you mean football not futbol, I am ambivalent. The local stations are gone on satellite, so if someone is trying to watch it on analogue they are sunk. I think is has to be because of the force shield they have going on for the concert, and Obama’s speech from the monument at 4.

There isn’t a whole lot of futbol here.
Waxing poetic with a great paragraph or two thrown in. I love it.
I’m not a football fan extreme, but I’ll watch the Ravens tonight and catch pieces of the concert.
We’re doing a collection and a dinner at the YMCA, this year more than any other there is a great need for clothing and food. At least the weather has let up some.

I think I’ll skip the Ravens, though they are named after a poem by Poe I just don’t care that much.
Wonderful post. Loved the concert and found myself crying when Pete Seeger sang/talked and the weird part was I never could stand him.
Here’s something with your name on it http://www.nytimes.com/2009/01/18/opinion/18kristof.html
Please think about it

I think everyone in the world send Kristoff their video tape. I am considering it, despite I want to have a full year in at the commission on women and hope to be able to travel in a working way to Africa next year anyway. He has already been to Darfur with this project, so I wonder where it will be this time around.
I don’t like Seeger that much but that scene was quite touching I admit.
Does dog sitting count as community service, because if it does I’m down with that. That is all we have here. Everyone left D.C. and came here this weekend, we were almost going to head in, but when the town filled up with d.c. refugees we decided we had better stay here for the event.
A better goodbye than he deserves.

It’s not over until Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, etc all stand trial for their high crimes and misdemeanors.

Nice work.
I caught it on a later showing. Pete Seeger is old, but his singing that song, he just looked so happy. You right, we’ve been saying goodbye to him since we knew was politics was and even before.

Happy Inauguration day, Cooper. I’m going to a Move on thing in a town called Little River which always makes me think of Broadway Shows taking place in the 19th Century
Damn the feed thing again
Long have we waited, and you’re right, it hardly seemed like this day would ever come.
