Happy Few Days Before New Years

I wanted to wish you a “happy few days before New Years” in case I fail to make it back here until next year. It’s unlikely, but you never know. I have some blog reading
to catch up on. I’ve had a bit of a respite and even though I’m working while on break I feel somewhat rejuvenated.

I almost bought a Golden Doodle, but the reality of my life situation hit soon enough, and the idea was reluctantly discarded. Doggie daycare is not in my budget, and you can’t place a puppy in day care until you have become it’s “pack leader”. No time to transform myself into a pack leader at this time. I’m not home enough hours to have a dog. Another consideration is that I’ve never trained a dog. Our family dogs were trained well, they traveled with us and suffered well plane trips and quarantine, but they were not trained by me. I was their pack leader by default or osmosis, and there is a chance I’d be pretty poor at training a dog. I fear the dog could become my pack leader. I’m a fool for animals, they can walk all over me, people not so much. Animals usually have me where they want me in short order.

I’m chilling with nonsense reading, a two year old Stephen King book I bought for a couple of dollars. I haven’t read anything of his since high school so this will be fun.

I’m also the new technorati tag authority on “pink floyd”, “ashton kutcher”, “business”, “ramadan”, “google earth”, “obituaries”, “Katie Couric“, “daily kos“. Yea all the great ones were taken, though I did get “why is incest illegal”, so there. That and number of others like it, completed but as yet not approved for publication, like, “death records”, “unrequited love” “Lourdes”, and “life” to name a few.
It’s quite therapeutic really.

Stop by Should Be Famous to check out the last famer of 2008, the mojo.

peace

  1. Happy New year to you too, also in case I don’t get back. I want a dog but know what you mean about not having the time. It’s too bad I don’t like cats.

    ha, obituaries?

  2. Hope your holidays are going well. I wish I could get a dog, but my housemate already has a cat and she’d freak out if there was another animal getting her attention.

See you in the New Year!! *besos & hugs*

  3. Happy pre new year. I’m working, but hope to get out in time to check out some celebrations. We’re booked that night because everyone comes to stay at their summer homes during the holiday even though it’s 40 degrees.
I know you want that doodle because you saw Kevin’s. They are great dogs, but you have to have the time.

  5. Happy New Year. May it be wonderful

Many people want me to get a rescue dog and I’m thinking about it, but judging from how often I leave I would have to find it a kennel five nights at least a month, and that’s just the acceptable excuse

  6. Oh my post shows up :) I’m so out of it. Had no idea you can be a technorati tag expert

  7. Want to have most comments on Cooper’s pre_New Years post :)

Wow has blogging passed me by. I went into Technorati for the first time in awhile. Saw many “get paid to blog” schemes–but they’re all arranged so the blogger blogs often and the blog owner is the person who makes the money.

I know times goes on and things change better than most people. But blogging is unrecognizable from 04-05 when people did it for fun

Thank you Cooper for always keeping my brain engaged and alive :) And I’ll be hitting some Starbucks. Will have to sneak them as I’ll be with Manhattan diner people but…

  8. Is this a new years comment contest?
    I’m behind.
“why is incest illegal” is a tag?

My girlfriend has a dog, a nice blond lab about a year old. He is time consuming. If you’re not home a lot you’ll have to leave the dog with your boyfriend. The dog will end up really belonging to him, because he will end up feeding the dog, walking the dog, sleeping with the dog, and taking the dog to the vet.
I grew up around dogs, for me it’s an easy call. I don’t have one, but like I said my girlfriend does, she doesn’t live with me but her dog does. ;)

  9. I forgot.

    Happy New Year cooper.

  10. Happy New Year!
I don’t understand the tag thing either. But I am learning to accept my ignorance in some areas.

  11. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, Coop, but don’t worry so much about training. I’m glad to be the pack gamma.

Separate note: One of the nice things about spending time offline is having five fresh posts here to read.

It’s open to anyone who writes for blogcritics as long as you do the tags according to directions.

    Happy New Year too Paul.

  15. Happy New Year, cooper! A big ol’ fat sloppy muah to you. Sounds like you’re chilling just fine — nonsense reading is definitely important once in a while, unless you’re me, and then you realize you’re stuck really only wanting to read nonsense. It helps balance the nonsense in the world for me, or I’d implode. Haven’t read King since my early 20s and should probably blow the dust off one or two. As far as pack leading goes, I’m thinking you’re doing a pretty good job already. *looks around…*

    • Kelly, Happy New Year to you as well. I know as long as I post a commen before the end of the month I’m good.
I haven’t read him in some time so it was fun, I needed something which didn’t make my head spin – though it did, in a way, do just that.

  16. I would expect no less than obituary authority from you cooper.
    You make me proud. ;)

  17. Happy New Year Cooper….
well done on the tags and wise decision with the puppy ;)
    happy reading :)

    • A lot of the comments here, especially those by individuals deemed to be somewhat nefarious, end up in moderation. More and more lately.
Even on days I don’t blog until after midnight I check email and approve comments. I’m not sure why it is so many end up there but I do have certain words set to moderate due to spam.

You are not the only one. Doug even ends up there sometimes….who a thunk.
