A few days off, time to goof off, to change my blog theme ten or twenty times, and shop for black boots, extra warm socks, underwear and a new pumice stone food for Thanksgiving dinner. I guess some advice is worth taking. I’m sorry I wasn’t paying attention when my mother called and said “one thing you don’t want to have to do is go to the grocery store the day before Thanksgiving“.
I’m sitting here reading Real Simple’s (grandmother’s have a purpose and in my case it’s to subscribe me to publications I’d never read otherwise) list of Christmas gifts you can get for under fifty dollars. Despite being overwhelmed by the fumes of Ralph Lauren’s Notorious between page 48 and 49 it’s going pretty well. I found my brother’s Christmas gift on page 72, The Complete Manual of Things That Might Kill You, available from Amazon after Christmas but available from knockknockstuff now for twenty bucks.
I’m also going to take into consideration the idea they present of getting a nice hardback edition of someone’s favorite childhood book with a note reminding them they are a kid at heart.
Quotes for today:
“Isn’t it amazing “just how impressive the people being named to key positions in the Obama administration seem? Bye-bye hacks and cronies, hello people who actually know what they’re doing.

At numantra a media brief showing all agree blogs are a global phenomenon that has hit the mainstream. Duh.
The most famous pardonee’s as of today will be Pumpkin and Peacan.
Peace

You will never hit the mainstream, I don’t think, Cooper.
Doug’s last blog post..A holiday limerick
I’m with you on this one Doug.
Shopping for groceries isn’t my thing it’s my wife’s. I do the cooking.
i should get that book for my sister in law, she is a hypochondriac extraordinaire – she’d probably love it from both the humor practical point of view.
Happy Thanksgiving to you cooper.
jacob’s last blog post..Have I Got a Job For You
I just returned and it was pretty bad, especially as they had no traffic lights in the aisles, and people were stopping at the end of aisles talking to their long lost friends about the happenings of the day. people weren’t shy about hitting the back of my cart either…
Real Simple is actually my favorite “women’s magazine.” There’s so much useful information in that sucker!
Angela’s last blog post..Ten On Tuesday, 11/18/08
I do find it useful though I’ve only gotten it for a couple of months I finally have some time to sit and look through it. I’m checking out the “black skirt” section as I write.
Wow now you’re quoting Krugman. The post I deleted was about people asking me why Obama is taking the people he has. I have no idea why so many people ask me questions that are so simply answered.
There’s a book about Fairway, the store that I lived exactly two avenues up from and across the street. It would make a perfect present but my friends and family only give gifts to kids—our disposable income this year went to Obama, the DNC and uh Al Franken. We agreed a Democratic admin is present enough
My friend gets Real Simple and I stay at her house often enough to read them all
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving Cooper and change that blog theme :)
yea Krguman’s stuff comes up on my readers, but I think I took that quote from something else on my reader who was quoting him. Perfect quote, you have to admit.
We don’t really do gifts of any magnitude as no one in my family is hurting, but that books works well for the type of gift exchange we do. My disposable goes to women for women and the shelter here (the kids of this year), but I am going to do the favorite childhood book thing for a couple of people – maybe everyone. Except my brother – he gets that book for a variety of reasons all to boring to go into here.
Paul Krugman has a ‘Nobel’ platform now…not that he didn’t before. ;)
And just think, you’ll be working for free in 2020. Paying off that U.S. Debt.
Read I.O.U.S.A. it might scare you, or well, you might move to China…since they will own our ass in 15-25 years, if Obama et. al. don’t get to ‘figurin’ right.’
I would move to Shanghai, Dubai or Mumbai if money were SOLELY the goal.
IF you want to live long: be your vegan self, or eat home made tortillas, red wine from sardinia, italy, work out daily, drink goat’s milk, swallow omega-3, calcium, magnesium and get 15 minutes of sunlight. (Dr. Oz and Oprah)
I hate the Midwest…
Have a Tofu-riffic Turkey Day…
I’m at the watering hole….HOORAY!

I had to roast a real Turkey though I don’t eat it. China isn’t a place I’d want to live, though if they called in all the bonds they own I’d guess we’d have to default and what? They’d take our country and we’d become China?
That’s be a great book for my mother, just to make a point. She’s always filling me in on the many ways I can get killed, this will give her some extra ideas.
exactly
lol Cooper…
have a great time changing your blog theme ;)
and have a wonderful Thanksgiving :))
laketrees’s last blog post..Time Out to Smell the Roses
Thanks Kim it was nice. I ran a Turkey Trot to start it off, always a good way to start the day.
I just came home from vacation and left no food in my fridge before I left. Luckily, my friend gave a pot-pie from her cafe and dinner was served with having the hellish experience of having to go to the grocery store.
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving! Can’t wait to see you’ve decided on your them for the day?….week? month? ;)
Leigh’s last blog post..Out of Towner
My fridge is usually pretty bare, this week one of those rare exceptions.
Hope you day was nice as well.
Happy Thanksgiving.
Stuffed Turkey can kill you or at least make you quite ill.
Yea, that’s why I don’t eat it.
The new look is great! I never changed my blog design – I must be conservative!

It’s probably be best for everyone if we skipped it too.
Excellent Krugman quote.

Then I realized… oh, yeah. Cooper’s changed her thingie again.
The best thing about T-day is the minced meat pie drenched in scotch. Oh, and the guests who come to eat with us.
