The Man With “Fear Jihad” Tattooed Across His Forehead Endorses Obama

October 14th, 2008 by cooper

Continuing with the same used up squeezed dry theme of the day — politics — I’ll be discussing a rather interesting occurrence.

Christopher Hitchens:

No doubt Mr. Hitchens is a prickish man with some kind of grandiose self love going on. He is also much despised by many for his last book, though I thought it rather brilliant. Another thing Mr. Hitchens is.…. a fanatic critic of Islamo-Fascist terrorism. He has done nothing but speak of it since I can remember, which may not be as long as you can remember, but it will have to do. A staunch supporter to this day of the Iraq War, a man who without any doubt insists that Islamic terrorists want to wipe America off the face of the earth. The man who has made it his life mission to act as town crier on this issue.

This man has endorsed Barack Obama.

No disrespect to the woman — Gayle Quinnel  — from that well seen McCain rally video. The same women who had been given a pamphlet at a McCain volunteer headquarters by a McCain volunteer (not sanctioned by the campaign wink wink), which told of Obama being an Arab Terrorist, the lady who then went to the library dug up some more “scary” information, none of which she could really tell the interviewer about, but who then made hundreds of copies and mailed these lovelies to people she pulled out of the phone book.

No, no disrespect to extremely ignorant old lady, but lets assume here that Hitchens, despite being the prick of the century, is probably more knowledgeable than say 95.95 percent of the American public on the threat of Jihadi terrorism ( I say assume because it may be 99.75 percent), then I guess that whole “Obama is an Araaaaab Terrorist” thing Is pretty much flushed down the toilet eh?

Do you think Gayle Quinnel, or people screaming out at those rallies, have ever heard of Christopher Hitchens? Your right, probably not.

Someone needs to tell them where the real Islamic-Fascist Terrorist Expert is and it ain’t that volunteer at McCain volunteer headquarters.

Do not look at me in that way. I do not expect the heavens to part or the rain to stop or start accordingly. It is just the only choice at this point in time which makes any sense at all.

Differing views don’t bother me. Ignorance bothers me.

Quote below thanks to The Nation - Christopher’s For Obama.

Christopher Buckley, another well known conservative who recently fell of the McCain wagon, and endorsed Obama is quoted as saying…

Obama has in him — I think, despite his sometimes airy-fairy “We are the people we have been waiting for” silly rhetoric — the potential to be a good, perhaps even great leader. He is, it seems clear enough, what the historical moment seems to be calling for.

“So, I wish him all the best. We are all in this together. Necessity is the mother of bipartisanship. And so, for the first time in my life, I’ll be pulling the Democratic lever in November. As the saying goes, God save the United States of America.”

Peace

Christopher Hitchens engages in self love?

    eeeewwwww to that visual.

This country, especially my area of it, is full of Gayle Quinnels. They take great pleasure in telling me how ignorant I am.

Guess I’d rather be wide-eyed ignorant than blindly stupid.

    Or is there a difference?

I’m inclined to believe the pudgy-faced dork holding the monkey at the McCain/Palin rally at Lehigh last week knows the true answer to that question.

  2. Interesting indeed. Perhaps we’ll hear Palin stumping about Obama “Pallin’ around with anti-theist heathens” in the coming days?

    • cooperNo Gravatar says:

I haven’t seen much of that. I only read about it thank god, my TV time is limited to that murdering forensic officer Dexter.

Funny I was thinking of Buckley’s father and imagining what he would do. Christopher Buckley did write one of the best movies of all time “Thank you for smoking” Well the novel but. Christopher Hitchens wow that’s good but weird

  4. From the title of this post alone, I imagine you’ll get some very interesting google-search hits. ;)

Have you checked out the Rolling Stone article on McCain? It’s action packed with “the real McCain” —  one example:

“McCain was not only a lousy student, he had his father’s taste for drink and a darkly misogynistic streak. The summer after his sophomore year, cruising with a friend near Arlington, McCain tried to pick up a pair of young women. When they laughed at him, he cursed them so vilely that he was hauled into court on a profanity charge.”

    • cooperNo Gravatar says:

I will have to get to that immediately. Going to school in DC and having lived in Maryland during my high school years the real McCain was pretty much as described in those types of articles though. At least from the local stories. I was never clear on when he became a “nice guy”? Or how such a miraculous transformation occurs so very late in life.

  5. JohnMNo Gravatar says:

He is a total prick, but the endorsement of a man whose fear of Jihad is out of control is significant.
You sure it’s-not tatted across his ass too?

    Good little find there Coop.

A conspiracy: Maybe the conservative leadership thought after McCain got the nod to ‘throw’ this election. Not so much as to seem truly dismissive, but enough to where putting a know-nothing like Palin (likely because no one else really wanted to run with McCain, and ruin their credentials, or future in politics) would inspire only the fringe elements of the party, the Gayle lady.

Since I to live in the backwoods of America, only about 3 miles from a good corn field with Republican dolts screaming about Obama enslaving the white race — this is absolutely real — and destroying American Capitalism. (Didn’t George W. all ready get that process good and hot? I guess Socialism is alive and well in the Bush blood…)

Resentment, fear of change, racism, issue nitpicking and ignorance has been a touchstone of what the conservative quacks live for.

I always find this a fun concept: A crazy old granny wants her granddaughter to go to college, but finds anyone that goes to Harvard yard must be too stupid to understand anything. (I didn’t respond. I have worse worries now. Obama should win in this environment and with this opponent.)

    • cooperNo Gravatar says:

I’m just amazed by all this hate stuff. I wouldn’t not have believed it was like that here a couple of months ago. I knew people were ignorant but not that ignorant. The rage inside them is horrible to see. I wonder who really fucked up their lives?

      • Jason P.No Gravatar says:

The people that fucked up their lives are (in the majority) the people they voted into office. The Reagans, Bush clan, etc.

Which means ‘they know’ they fucked themselves. Unable to admit they picked the wrong path, they deflect it on anyone seen as choosing the right phil.

Maybe it is just my scattered opinion, but anytime your faith rests on ONE book, or ONE philosophy, you are screwed.

Even as much as I support Barack, I don’t dream he’s a miracle worker. Hell, even with all that “POWER” he’s taking over a real ugly mess. No amount of policy making is going to undo decades of decayed values and the attacks he’s got waiting for him once he is elected.

Picked up Krugman’s Conscience of A Liberal. So that might be channeled in this response.

  7. ChrisNo Gravatar says:

I also heard a horrible rumor the other day that Obama has fathered two black children!! He must be stopped ;)

  8. JACOBNo Gravatar says:

    It’s curious.
I bet he’s done his own investigation too. It is a clue Obama isn’t a terrorist muslim, but I don’t think those people could read or understand a Hitchens essay if they tried. I only understand them on my better days. ;)

Creative title cooper, are you sure you are going into the right field?

  9. MarvalusNo Gravatar says:

Now this makes me wonder if the world is going to hell…Christopher Hitchens???

I mean, I’m all for the endorsement and all…but Christopher Hitchens???

Buckley quit The National Review and it was gladly accepted. His father founded it and Buckley owns one seventh

Judging by McCain’s verbiage yesterday he’s going to bare his knuckles tonight. Obama won’t have to do a thing but smile that cute ironic smile he had on in the last debate

America began going to hell with Nixon continued with Reagan who truly screwed things up and the came Newt Gingrich. We got into deep shit then

I have come to the conclusion that the 2000 election was a natural outgrowth of all that

  11. caseyNo Gravatar says:

Something to think about. You’d have to be able to think first is the problem. I don’t see a lot of thinking going on out there.
