Letters waiting in cyberspace.
To Senator McCain for perpetrating a campaign (especially rally’s), of such hateful sublime racist “the other” innuendo it reminds me of something I never experienced; the late fifties and early sixties. That the media and the public act as if this is expected — just part of the game — reflects the public’s tolerance, and perhaps their appetite for it. That my friends should make us all sad, ashamed, as well as concerned. What have we become again. If this man wins there is no going back. This vile tactic, along with the hate filled racism which accompanies it, will be validated. A win by such tactics justifies such tactics. We can’t let that happen here.

Not only are his rally’s scary, they are evidently full of prisoners. Now I know they all misspeak. Obama thinks we have 57 states for instance, but that prisoner thing is a stretch really. Or is it?
Are we all not prisoners of our politics, conscience, our environment, our 9th grade soccer coach, a media which spends more time discussing presentation than content, and (to channel Mark Morford), “the belligerent, militaristic, religiously closed-minded, culturally stagnant, environmentally reckless, fiscally irresponsible government which has resulted in one of the most epic collapses of a world power in modern history”
Yes, Senator McCain we are all prisoners, of your parties governance, and we are busting our ass to try to escape.

And then there ‘s the debates????
Dear candidates, commission on debates, and moderators of debates:
1.
If you are going to hold a debate for god sake make them debate.
2.
If you moderate a debate moderate it – take control. Do not allow candidates to say off the mark they will not be answering the questions as asked either, if they say it kick them off the stage. Really exercise your power. None of the folks are elected yet, you are the boss.
3.
Candidates, if you are asked a question, answer the damn question, do not ramble on about something else. My tolerance for this is gone. If you can’t answer debate questions directly what are you going to do when the question is “the missile has been launched sir, what do you want us to do”?
Very simple requests.
One last question which should be asked of the candidates of course.
Will you still love me tomorrow.

Peace

Yeah, I’m growing rather annoyed by candidates taking the opportunity to ramble on any topic they want when asked a question. It’s very distracting and almost always makes me end the night in tears.
Now mojo you are good at fiction I’m sure, but even I don’t believe that one.
I agree about the debates. Some big thug in a black mask ought thump the candidates and moderators for talking stupid. Every time. You’ll see less of that behavior that way, plus it would be a world more entertaining.
Do you have a mask?
I agree with the direction McCain’s campaign has taken. As far as the debates – personally I think they are wildly overrated for the very specific fact that people want to see a gaffe, a flub, a game changer – something that will excite the media – and this is why candidates fall into their tried and tested messages. No one wants to come out of a 90 minute talk with America and see their numbers plummet because they spoke honestly and accidentally said “people turn to guns and religion because they’re bitter.” An honest talk on live television is just not something you’re going to get when so much is at state. And really, do we need debates to convince us which candidate to choose? Personally, I think debates, if anything, highlight the character and presence of candidates, but are never critical to policy. It’s always about face time.
Well that is all they have done. I do think there are people out there who want answers and the questions should be addressed as asked.
It’s shameful what we tolerate while we pretend we’ve come so far.Joe went to a pa rally for school, I’ll forward you his email and pictures. Not pretty.
The debates aren’t debates you’re right. They have given a lot of people time to look at Obama his temperament, his attitude and they have shown some ugly little character traits in McCain. I still think McCain is not well, and that is what scares me most because of Palin.
Not well in the head if you ask me. Reading more about his temper and the way he treats people who’s ass he doesn’t want to get up for some reason makes me dislike him and I never really disliked him – just his policy.
It might be that it has dawn on conservatives that their party in the White House and as leaders is going by the board. (If they think at all.)
It would be nice if the moderator actually had some stones and questioned their abilities in answering.
Got the article. Thanks.
welcome
That’s a more bouncy version than I’ve heard from the Shirelles in the past. Great stuff. Amy Winehouse has a good version but she is such a mess it’s hard to listen to.
i watched the debates after the fact, and fell asleep half way through. I’d love to see them answer only the questions asked, with an allowance for elaboration on the question. It’s really not fair to the people to hold such sham debates. It does show presentation, which has clearly helped Obama.
Love the view on the prisoner thing.
I saw Michelle Obama on Larry King yesterday, she is just totally ignoring all the stupid stuff going on, she said the people don’t ask about that stuff, they ask about the issues, the economy and so on. That’s probably McCain’s biggest problem right now, because people have other worries and he is wasting their time.
It was a more bouncy version, I kind of like it.
