There Ought To Be A Law

Some would say it doesn’t matter, but I find it somewhat mortifying (though fortunate for the Democrats), that only around half of Americans can correctly identify the Democrats as the majority party in Congress.

2008 PEW RESEARCH CENTER FOR THE PEOPLE & THE PRESS (pdf)

Carpetbagger Report has a pretty good analysis.

Americans are pretty sharp when it comes to celebrity news though, and for that we should take a bow.

Then we have a man who obviously needs to get a life. Roy Den Hollander, an attorney with women issues, has filed Filed an Antifeminist Suit Against Columbia.

“a lawsuit in United States District Court in Manhattan against Columbia for offering women’s studies courses, which Mr. Den Hollander sees as discriminatory toward men. His class-action suit accuses Columbia of using government aid to preach a “religionist belief system called feminism.”

The same nut job who filed a lawsuit against parts of The Violence Against Women Act, who wrongly assumes Ladies Night was a case of men subsidizing women and filed a Federal lawsuit to end the discrimination against men by New York City nightclubs that charge men more for admission than females, is at it again.

Profiled in The New Yorker last year while cruising a dance club in midtown Manhattan, looking for the Asian, Black or Latino women he claimed to prefer, “I tend to be attracted to black and Latin chicks, and Asian chicks,” lamenting on the volume of the music which he said interfered with his ability to hit on women because “When I hit on a girl, I need to be able to talk to her.” Not to mention the guy had to be close to fifty years old at the time of that interview, though he doesn’t admit his age.

Roy Den Hollander used to like Russian women until he separated from his Russian wife, a woman who apparently married him only for a green card, go figure. He subsequently sued his ex-wife and her employer under some kind of racketeering statute. The case of course was dismissed. That’s when he appeared to go a little crazy, and the law suits keep coming.

Some women hating going on here for sure.
There really should be a law.

  • I’m frightened enough don’t scare me so.

The dude is crazy, it’s been a year since he got any real publicity he had to file another lawsuit. The Russian wife? Not too bright if he fell for that.

How did you manage to get that magna to look so much like you?

    • It has been about year since he’s had any serious coverage.

The magna lets you choose the eyes and face shape — ethan did it, if I’d chosen it probably wouldn’t look so much like me. I’ll do one for you and have them send it to your email.

  • The problem isn’t woman-hating suits — it’s too many lawyers. We’ve got a bumper crop in the US, and they are so eager for business they’ll sue damned near anyone for anything. With that many JDs out there enabling the crackpots, you’re bound to get a Den Hollander or two to pop up on the radar.

    • You’re right on the lawyers, though I read somewhere they are in high demand again as a career even though a few years ago it appeared we had a glut of them.

  • I hate laws against hate. They always end up cited in hateful lawsuits.

    • Whatever law someone will challenge it for sure. This guy is a little off in the head though. it’s really hard to drudge up anger against an insane person.

  • Like the administrative law judge who sued the dry cleaners for millions because they misplaced his pants. Lawyers are crazy.
This one has a little women hate going on resulting from that whole “I was too stupid to know this women just wanted a green card” thing.

  • people tend not to understand somebody is marrying them for their citizenship when it’s obvious to everybody around them. Most don’t become opposite sex haters and litigious however

    • I guess the only solution to this madness is to give green cards out to all Russian women who ask. It might prevent men who can’t find the type of women ( sex slave, House Frau, husband admirer), he is looking for from making the same mistake and going into a similar women hating tailspin.

  • I remember, in undergrad, guys making jokes about Women’s Studies being “sexist.” I just love that this notion extends farther into the public. And by “love,” of course, I mean the exact opposite.

And yes, you are so right about the American public and celeb-knowledge. There is more importance placed on the names of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s children than Obama naming his running-mate.

    • I took on women’s studies class as an elective, my interestes were elsewhere, but I do think the men in the class were surprised they actually learned something.

  • Separate but equal comments:

    1. It seems that rather than representative democracy, this country is ruled by democracy in absentia. Most folks are perfectly willing to cast a vote every 4 years for president, and then hope the ship of state can run on auto-pilot after that. And those celebrities are so darned interesting. Obviously, the status quo makes out pretty well in the bargain.
    2. I bet the guy has some interesting pick-up lines.
    3. The Face Your Manga turned out really well (can’t speak to the accuracy) and I like the new design.

    • Yup, It’s like not getting your teeth cleaned until they are falling out.
I thank you or that little magna suggestion.

  • That’s almost too funny. Sad, wasteful, but funny in a sick way.

Did you see his website? There are a lot of men who really dislike women, and most of them are using some past issue as their basis. That speaks to psychology, something I know nothing about.

    • I saw the webiste but didn’t link it because I didn’t feel the need. Obviously he goes around finding clients who like to sue for similar causes as well.
      Psychology or pathology? ;)

  • As far as Americans knowledge about Congress, I’m not mortified since its par for the course. If it’s not on Sports Center or Entertainment tonight, chances are most Americans don’t know about it.

Yet, that never stops the endless bitch, pissing and moaning about congress, laws, the way things are, etc.; by these exact same people not only don’t doing anything about it, but are intentionally clueless as to whats going on.

And for Roy Den Hollander, his actions are women’s fault. If he’d gotten some play when he was younger, he wouldn’t hate you all so much now :P

  • Damn Republicans.

  • Land of the free and home of the litigious.

Dems are lucky most people don’t know it they’ve done such a disappointing job.

  • pennsyltucky is full of small-dicked men who constantly complain about how women are too free and not willing enough to scrub their toilets. some of those types are unable to maintain relationships with regular, local women and resort to mail-order brides. when those relationships do not pan out, they complain about how the women from Russia or the Phillipines are not docile enough and are only in it for the green card.

but it’s not about the sex or the green card; rather, it’s about the small-dicked men having control issues. the same with Hollander. it’s the control he wants, not the relationship. is it any wonder then that he’s paying for the companionship? so, yes, it’s a pathology. much more that then him being a lawyer. he’d still have the same issues if he were a letter carrier. of course, he’d probably really go postal so it’s a good thing that he’s a lawyer.
