You’d never know it to look at me, but it’s true.
I lost my third cell phone in less than a year last week.
Subsequently I did something I’ve not done before. I had Verizon totally deactivate the phone via serial number, so no one will be able to use it again ever.
Never bothering to take such a step in the past this time, disgusted with my own carelessness, I took it out on the lucky person who found it. The person who repeatedly ignored my phone calls while waiting for me to give up, and get a new phone so they could sell my old one on Ebay.
Eh. Not gonna happen this time.

You’re sprucing up the blog! Guess it’s that time of year — I had changed my entire theme/layout and did all this css/html tweaking and then decided to go back to the old theme. Who knows. Maybe I’ll change my mind again.
I’m liking your changes though!!
And sorry about the cell phone fiasco. Sounds ridiculously horrible!!!
I’ve yet to come up with a theme I’m totally comfortable with. Believe it or not my original blogspot blog with a theme tweaked from “maystar designs” was my favorite look.
I love themes by a designer named Millo or something like that but I can never get them to work with my blog.
Yea, I’m a loser in the cell phone department.
It seems like it’s in the air. I too spent this weekend giving my blog a makeover while trying to survive the heat…glad to know thought that it was your cellphone that you were referring to…I thought you might have been referring to people that redesign their blogs.
I guess I’d be a loser in that situation as well because I change this often, not satisfied yet with the perfect one. I really should have one designed just for me then I’d probably be happy.
I’ve been thinking about that too — hiring someone to design a theme for me. But it seems rather costly and I wonder if it’s REALLY worth it since there are so many themes out there for free. But hell, I can never seem to be satisfied.
You are not alone on this one!!
I’ve never lost a phone. Broken several.
I didn’t know you had to specifically do something to prevent them from being used again.
Yea, they have to disable the phone via the serial number.
I’ve never lost a phone, land or otherwise. But I’ll write down the serial number just in case.
Actually you don’t have to write it down your carrier has the serial number, you just have to specify to them when you inactivate the phone that you want it totally inactivated by the number so it can’t be reactivated by someone who finds otherwise when you deactivate it anyone can reactivate the phone to their cell number should they choose – at least with Verizon.
Hurry and get a new one so you don’t miss the VP IM from Barack Obama. You know how he gets when you don’t write back.
I know, he gets furious when he can’t contact me. I told him for future reference though, whatever he does never push the RED BUTTON.
Oh that’s good. Wouldn’t want your direct line with Obama deactivated
I tend to have phones and cameras fall into the sea or become wet from being too close. Have taken to carrying phones in very tightly closed plastic bags
Just when I begin to get used to your newest theme….
I’m still playing haven’t found one I like yet.
Yea, I’m just not good with equipment.
The person who found it is the real loser, not answering your calls. I’ve lost my cell phone before and before even noticing it was missing, the person who found it gave my dad a call to tell me it was left at the grocery store.
Well hopefully the next one you get stays with you longer than a week :)
Leigh, darling I so miss you.
Yea, I’m pretty sure in this case someone scarfed it right up. Last time I was in Mexico so I really didn’t expect someone to give it back because the rsort area was quite large, but I really expected someone to answer the phone this time.
Cooper, I’ve been meaning to ask you — do you use a comment plug-in or something??
I use Brian’s Threaded Comments.
