Summer in the City

I’m sitting here in what is more like a desert than a study/den, with the air conditioning not working due to something called a broken capacitor. At least that is what a friend told me as he started the blade of the unit with a large long metal stick, then gave me the name of someone to come fix it in the morning. Until then I die. Even with the blade kicked on it doesn’t see to be pushing out cold air. I’ve been out walking the streets several times already, sadly the bars are closing.

tonight
for me

Let’s see if Congress has the where with all to do anything about daddy.

kind of on old joke like from 2005 so it’s ok if you missed it

A house panel cited him for contempt, but it looks like congress will choose to take their vacation, think about it, and decide it’s not worth going forward. They could do it before the break, they won’t.

I would like to cite congress for contempt of the people.

I’m sorry to see McCain sinking as low as he did with this last ad. The video is despicable.

Remembering Terry Nelson — McCain’s campaign manager – was the operative behind the “bimbo” ad attacking Dem Tennessee Senate candidate Harold Ford, Jr. ABC News. It’s not surprising McCain has sunk so low as to put out, as TPM puts it, a “caricature of Obama as a uppity young black man whose presumptuousness is displayed not only in taking on airs above his station but also in a taste for young white women.“

It’s disappointing, because even though I despise this little old flip flopping, cunt calling man, I had hoped for better from him.

So, if we judge of man’s wisdom by his hope — as per Emerson —  I am by my hopeful nature, wise. If we judge a man’s wisdom by his ability to temper hope with what can reasonably be expected in any given circumstance, in this case specifically on what we already know about McCain, my hope was ill founded.

For Now It’s…

Hot town, summer in the city
Back of my neck getting dirty and gritty
Been down, isn’t it a pity
Doesn’t seem to be a shadow in the city

All around, people looking half dead
Walking on the sidewalk, hotter than a match head

  • I agree the McCain campaign is a pity. You look lovely next to dear old dad.

  • I’ve tried starting an air conditioning with a long metal stick too , it didn’t work.

I bet daddy doesn’t do time for the crime.

I had higher hopes as well, more the fool I, I guess.

Didn’t even know Joe Cocker did that song. Lovely.

I hope you find your air much cooler to day.

    • I love the Joe Cocker version.
I bet daddy doesn’t ‚either but I’m writing them to tell them what I want them to do with him.

  • Sorry you’re roasting.
Run cold water on your wrists.
    Dad should be proud.
McCain — shameful — but aren’t they all.
Joe can still raise the hair on the back of your neck. God bless him.
If you like Mr. Cocker — pick up his “Luxury You Can Afford” — he does a wonderful rendition of “A Whiter Shade of Pale” — the Procol Harem hit (as well as “Heard it Through the Grapevine”).

    • yea I love it but I have nothing of his, but I will check those out.

Politics s shameful but I find what is happening with McCAINS campaign disturbing.

It won’t be fixed until tomorrow, they had to get a part, and I wasn’t going ot be home for them to com back, so tomorrow, but it is not as hot this evening, it should be all good

  • On one hand McNasty compliments Obama for all that he’s achieved and accomplished.

Then he runs out an ad in which he suggests Obama is at the same level as America’s most famous trailertrash.

I now know where britney spears misplaced her panties: on top of mccain’s head. Yanno, he is getting a bit thin up there. But it’s not his hair of which I speak.

Yeah, for sure. Pity the mccain campaign. And pity his political dementia.

  • Aww, who needs AC? Better for the environment, really…

    • Yes, well that may be true but my apartment was over a 95 degrees yesterday so all was not good.

      Here it is necessary.

  • Saunas: good for the skin.

Cunt calling men: bad for everything.

    Love the Cocker.

  • Well, at least we know you didn’t get your looks from big daddy Karl…

Without any Cable TV for 2 weeks. So, yeah, it sucks. But I read more books I have. You’ll just have to sauna more or go out to those bars a bit.

Have a good weekend! Cubs are a rollin’!

  • Damn, I’m sorry I missed the joke but you enlighten the pic…

You know where I am with the McCain ad sleaziness…ugh!

Sorry you are having to endure without AC…I would not survive; or at least I would act like it!

    • It’s hard in the city the airflow is not that great. I can take it when it’s in the 80’s but when the temp outside has been 95 or so it is not good for me.

  • Ill founded yes, but don’t lose hope that most people will hold on to some of their integrity.

That is a great Cocker rendition. Never heard it before.
