Friday, take a rest from blogging, quick opine and links.

July 11th, 2008 by cooper

I got an “Urgent message from Hugh Hewitt” email today.

Hugh Hewitt is so upset about the young people of America’s fascination with Obama he is sending notices to his readers about his “Letters to a Young Obama Supporter”. He explains all his concerns in these letters. He so wants to save America he is is offering those letters in a nice little package ( a $66 value for only $34.95), and you’ll even get 12 months of Townhall thrown in. He hopes you act quickly, subscribe and get all three in your hands before it’s too late. .

What a peach he is.

Via MoJo — Even those supposedly in the know good blogs are crap. No shit.

Blogosphere

Those people still don’t get that most people now can read a the news and research everything on line, so it hardly matters. Most of what is out there is just the queen bee gathering her drones or entertaining punditry. Most blogs suck no matter what genre they are, even the ones written by people who have some journalistic skill and no agenda. Some good points made though.

I don’t do much linking here.
I do read Science Blogs routinely, and I have read Pharyngula
since I first started blogging. For those of you so inclined and with decent credentials ( just kidding), feel free to help out a science blogger in the name of common sense.

You will have to read the whole story, which I am not going to post here as I’ve been following it for some time. It involves a witch burning campaign that stems from being rude to a cracker ( The Eucharist ).

If you haven’t read Doug’s splendid prose ( Open letter to the cowards, idiots and reprobates in the U.S. Congress), do so.

And don’t forget Pia’s work in Our Children’s Brains Part XVII: More Than Just Clumsy: What It’s Like to Live With Nonverbal Learning Disorder in the long Island Press.

Linking is an odd form of research, anyway. Don’t take my word for it, check out this guy who cites AP!

That goes for links to extended complaints in rhyme, too, by the way.

I run a mere mild link blog, you run a real blog. That doesn’t mean a day of links isn’t worthy.

I feel slighted Hewitt didn’t email me.
    That Eucharist thing is nuts.

Have a wonderful weekend! I shall be abstaining as much as possible also.

It’s summer a time to be places not in cyberspace. Tomorrow’s going to be the 23rd anniversary of Live Aid and it seemed so important then.

I hope but doubt that 23 years from now people will look back to this summer with nostalgia and fondness but wonder why they were spending so much time linking and blogging instead of conversing and laughing.

Though this week I linked to thank those people who have been so wonderful to me , and have understood in that article I just told a story, a true one, but didn’t lose 60 IQ points overnight. or am some form of idiot savant.

Thank you dear Cooper≈ Have a wonderful weekend away from blogs. As for news and info – it’s just so much easier, cheaper and cleaner online.

You enjoy, at least you have the water near by. I ran this morning on a trail near a man made lake where people swim, they were testing it for feces.

      Peace always.

      can’t wait for the 4.0. ;)

Yes, the old history of blogging…

I remember when I actually blogged to entertain. I remember being excited when I got a whole 12 comments from 12 different people. Once even got up to over 60 comment…but that was the stomach head…

About Hugh Hewitt, would he be concerned if I didn’t know who the hell he is verses fascination with Obama?
Cause I don’t…I don’t keep up. Wake me when it’s November.

BTW I’ve posted yet another post.….Personally I think it’s a decent one. Basically a refinement of previous.

Good post. (I know you hate that.) Yes, it is hard to be original and not push an agenda or put out something not all ready stated.

1st: Politics has not solved anything. Sure, we hope Obama is going to do things right. But he has to be a ‘man of the people.’ And the people of this little country, are, in a word, strange. I’ve talked to strange people all the time…(not necessarily by choice — more of a ‘they seem normal,’ until, I talk to them.) Values all over the place. Some down right hateful of groups or a person for tenious reasons…(And can’t explain a policy/issue for their despisal…)

Or maybe I am just strange. Like: Fines for Sagging Pants down in public. (http://www.nwitimes.com/articles/2008/07/12/news/top_news/doc4267ef1bbc6c7aaf862574840004f29a.txt) Read and shake head. To make laws like this — unconstitutional in my opinion, and foolish behavior also –just makes it a weird world.

Diatribe on Phil Gramm is pretty good. More garbage in the internet pile.

So much these days it makes my head spin, which is why I’m taking leave of news for awhile. It is had for my health and seemingly had no redeeming value, at least lately.

The cracker thing is unbelieveable  — not so surprising in the times we live in. ;(

The poem is worth it’s weight in gold. Yea, that didn’t sound right, but you know what I mean.

I checked out the links, all wroth a visit. I missed Pia’s story until today I’ve been behind in my blog reading . I am glad to have caught up.
