RIP Mr. Russert

June 13th, 2008 by cooper

May Tim Russert RIP.

I forgive you for never trying hard enough to get rid of Chris Matthews.

I hope they retire the Meet the Press, if not to honor you Mr. Russert, to prevent degradation by those potential imbeciles in waiting, ready to take the helm, salivating in their grief at the possibility.

In Your Honor, because I don’t really like Bruce Springsteen.

I like this one though.

Peace

I’m glad Friday the 13th is over.

You’ll probably get kicked out of school for this one. I heard Matthews has Jesuit contacts.

    new look Cooper !!!
very nice…lots of white space and suits the Bruce Springsteen song…

The priest to my church has passed on. Every Sunday I’d watch Meet the Press. It really seemed like the only political news show worth watching. I agree — the show should be retired. I can’t imagine anyone else bringing up quotes and saying, “But in 2005 you said, and I quote…”

    The page looks good.

Chris Matthews reminds me of too many blowhards in this area. Does he have Jesuit connections? My uncle was a member of the SOJ clothe for 60+ years and knowing him and having observed Matthews all these years… doubtful. Remember also that Luke Russert went to the Jesuit-run Boston College so the roots there probably run deeper.

I like Da Boss. Anyone who has ever been to one of his 6 hour concerts is a Springsteen fan.

Nice to see you comment before the wee hours of the morning, Cooper.

Springsteen is an acquired taste. I like other peoples renditions of his songs better

Tim Russert, that’s a loss. I couldn’t put on the TV, and have been kind of very depressed

To quote a piano man “only the good die young” and 58 is

It is horrifying to think who will replace Russert. I feel like I lost a friend, though sort of a goofy one.

Springsteen is great. You people are nuts.

  8. The thing is? Russert would never have wanted the show to die with him. In his humility he referred himself not as the host of Meet The Press but as the temporary custodian of what is surely the greatest tradition in political broadcast journalism 61 years in the making.

He was the genuine article. When Scott McCellen went on his rounds I made sure to catch Russert’s interview with him, because there was no chance that anyone would have come to the table with a better understanding of the book and the history behind it.

Why the hell do we have to lose the good ones?

The problem is I can’t imagine who would take his place. I don’t see anyone out there like him or even close.

I agree, hard to fill his shoes and no one out there now comes to mind.
I hear Dick Gregory is an arrogant asshole.

MTP is on now, of course they’re discussing Tim Russert.

    Springsteen I like.

I was just watching the Conan clip from Friday. It’s bittersweet.
