Michael Phelps – An Experiment

Baltimore’s own Michael Phelps broke the world record in the 400-meter at the Olym­pic Trials yes­ter­day.
Now I could care less about the Olym­pics, which are being held in a place where the words human and rights rarely go together, but it is con­ve­nient for this easy, end of the wee­kend, care­free post of insig­ni­fi­cance.

Becoming George Carlin

George Car­lin (the misanth­ro­pic for­mer idea­list gone sour), died. Although I didn’t note his pas­sing imme­dia­tely  —  I admit he was rather a genius in his own way.
I had my pro­blems with the truth in his per­for­man­ces, truths spo­ken because of his disap­point­ment in man­kind. I didn’t want his atti­tude to rub off on me.
