Cuz Date Rape is Such a Yuck Yuck

I’ve never been so happy to be out of the loop of pop culture and into other things. I’m relieved I’ve never felt the need to hypothecate my humanity by entertaining myself with idiotic garbage, or finding the stuff rolled out by Gawker Media the least bit interesting, or entertaining.

I passed by this this via Majikthise earlier and followed the links. I’m compelled to post this.

Obligated might be a better word choice.

First we have a former Gawker Media minion barring her soul in the New York Times Mag, ( they bought it of course which is all the more telling), and now we have Alex Balk former Gawker editor and current Radar Online Executive Editor, posting an email, on his tumblr, from Richard Blakeley – Gawker Editor ( appropriately called “a tiny cocked piece of shit” by Attackerman ) entreating a couple of lines, for a future post, on how to best date rape someone.

Now I have no idea really if the email was authentic, or if Balk made it up, but either way the individual who wrote it, or posted it as a joke, is rather ill minded and yea probably cursed with a flaccid short one.

The link on the tumblr looks like it leads to a story at boinkology, another little haunted house of misogyny, yet there is no story there, so maybe even the vile have their limits.

Not to violate copyright laws I will paraphrase what I read in this supposed email from Richard Blakeley to Alex Balk.

( These are adult men )

Hey dude I’m penning an article for bionkology on where to go on a first date rape
There’ll be bunch of answers, some mine some belonging to others. Give me a few sentences of where you’d take a girl on a first date rape ( he goes on to give an example) yuck yuck….

That this kind of thing is demotic is a sad fact of where we are on this, my 23rd birthday.

And yes I’m going to post this again, because it rocks.

I want a piano, if anyone is taking my list. ;)

Peace.

Iraq - A Stepping Stone

As most of you know I’m agnostic. I was never much for confessing, even when younger.

My family who by history is Roman Catholic never made me participate in confession prior to first communion - though I believe it is now required, it was not back then.

There is something to say for confessors though. If we had more of them maybe we would have less people confessing, or clarifying as some might want to call it, in books. Books which clog up the prominent displays, making it damn hard to find “War and Peace”.

So Scott McClellan writes a book. The media goes nutso.

When you knew all along the kid down the road was part of the street gang that stole your bicycle, and your school lunch sandwiches, you really don’t want to see him make a boat load of money admitting to the fact years later.

Especially when you’ve known it all along.

McClellan writes that Bush and his team sold the Iraq war by means of a “political propaganda campaign” in which contradictory evidence was ignored or discarded, caveats or qualifications to arguments were downplayed or dropped and “a dubious al-Qaida connection to Iraq was played up.

What, we are now going to pay to read things we have known to be the case all along?

Once a paid deceiver, now a potentially much wealthier former paid deceiver?

Wonder where they’re shelving “The Prince” these days.

Jerome White Jr.

Some afternoon coolness.

Reading WAPO’s A Far Cry From Home, featuring American Born Enka singer Jerome White Jr. I had to look him up on You Tube, as I’ve never hear of him, or Enka for that matter.
