Wonderland or Not

After the Jellybeans

The view out my window gave an appearance of warmth influencing my decision on the thickness of my sweats for my run. It was appearance only. Once outside the realization that sun does not always equal heat hit me.

I don’t think I’ve ever wanted spring so badly, and this after a fairly mild winter. I was hoping my Easter Monday holiday would be warmer, but it appears this weather is stuck here for a week or so.

One of my very first real friends in Maryland was a girl named Emily. Emily moved to Colorado a couple short years after we met, but she was a friend to remember, and one I’ve remained on contact with.

Somewhere in the middle of her college career Emily decided all she really wanted to do in life was to own and run some kind of bed and breakfast establishment, or ranch. Em changed schools, switched majors and headed in a direction which she felt would allow her to gain employment and experience for her future endeavor.

Upon graduation last year she landed a job with a hotel chain /corporation out of Canada and landed at a new resort in Mayakoba. Twice a year she has a limited number of days to invite people down, and last fall she invited me. I was unable to go. I am considering taking two days out of my education, plus a weekend and heading down during her time off this time.

This seems more tempting now as the weather is nowhere near as warm as I like it. I’m not sure I can actually arrange it, but it would shore me up for the heavy month to follow. Besides it is a totally free five star resort stay, and considering all the air miles in my family it is more so a bargain.

I won’t miss the Cherry Blossoms either as they are predicted to peak March 27th - April 3rd.

Hoping to catch up on blogs later today, though I need to do my taxes, study, and ponder the logistics of this trip to Mexico in April. All this while polishing off the jellybean assortment my grandmother sent me.

peace

I have a friend who did something similar. He worked for a large hotel chain for several years and then opened a fishing lodge in Wisconsin. Originally he was going to have it open only in the summer, but it is now year round, snowmobiler’s use it in the winter - he is much busier than he thought he’d be with a fishing lodge. He gets away couple of times a year while his extended family takes over the running of the lodge. Eventually he will not be running it day to day at all, others will, while he opens another similar place in a warmer climate.

Squeeze it in if you can.

I’m disappointed in the weather too. I’m surprised they predict the blossoms that early.

Go! You will only regret it if you don’t go. Give yourself some time off.

I presume this means the Cancun area has recovered from the hurricane hits it’s gotten over the past couple of years. Hope so.

It would be glib of me to say “smell the roses and go”. But I long ago became suspicious of older people using that line to protect themselves and their stations from competition vs. the o very young.

You will find your own balance. And it’d be great to enjoy a five-star while you still have youth to take full advantage.

Go to Mexico. Do you regret going to Costa Rica?

My taxes this year was a five week adventure in what could go wrong would go wrong. When I called one Indian call center the woman began to tell me how to tab my browser. I did get confused and asked if I was calling something to do with computers or a brokerage house

After getting too many forms that were overtly wrong or missing information I began to truly understand what’s wrong with our economy

Then Fed Ex delivered my forms to a mortgage company rather than my accountant who I ended up overwhelming for the first time

I can’t go away as things are always just about to happen, so please go for me

Oh right I’m in South Carolina where I had a half day vacation on Saturday–after paying the taxes

Now it’s freezing and everybody wants me at the ready

I appreciate that everything that might happen is good, in all different areas, but I need hot sun with the ocean. So go Cooper please

What’s the matter, a cold beach isn’t good enough for you. ;)

Go, of course you must, you can take work with you you’re disciplined. Unlike me, remember Costa Rica?

Damn Emily. Sweet job though.

Cherry Blossoms came out much later in Ohio and it always went unnoticed, it was usually during exam time. Even Delaware seems like Mexico to me after that.

I like the jellybeans too. At work, a guy brings some in, and I can’t keep myself from hogging them down. (I feel a bit piggy about it. But it is my ‘nature.’)

Go do what makes you happy. Travel. God - I’d give my left testicle to do as much as you do. (But I still would have another one.)

You might find some new adventure or hobby. Or a self-rich man than can do for you what others only dream to…;)

You never know! ROAD TRIP BABY!

My apple and pear trees are in full blossom. Just thought I’d mention. That was a nice post to read, by the way.

jacob: It does seem cold for that but they are usually on the money. Your friend’s life sound ideal.

tipp:I am working on it as we speak.

amoeba: It’s be better overall to just pack up and move to some far coast for a couple of years….

Pia: No, and that too was a treat but the work is more difficult and more concentrated, though I thin my system is working out..lol.

I got some form last week from the census people, I’d gotten it before and thrown it away, it was a form for me to send in information about my business???? You will have hot sun and ocean. I think it is good for the brain and will try to get there.

G: A cold beach is nice but why settle?

jason: My JB’S are almost gone.
Actually I think I got the doing for myself under control and don’t think looking for a self rich man is an option at this point. Hopefully there will be some decent conversationalist’s around, or at the very least a dumb blond beach boy to oogle
while I’m forced to smoke a Cuban cigar.

Can I come too if you go, Cooper?

The only thing I can get from my friends is free landscaping should I ever own a landscape and free doctor service if I ever develop an allergy.

I feel cheated compared to you.

Taxes? Ugh.

The only thing I detest more than doing the blessed taxes is making cold calls to prospective new voter registrants and party switchers. Although there is a plus side to making the phones calls: people who say they are switching to vote for Obama or against Hillary.

As for the taxes, the frikken AMT is going to take a chunk out of my pocket again this year. And I’ve never even been to a tax haven in the Caribbean!

A few days off rejuvenates for sure. If it’s manageable you should go for it.

I wonder if it’s a green hotel chain?

Jellybeans: Some are delicious, and some taste horrible.
I had this nasty little mocha/coffee jb this past weekend.Sometimes I have to go through several brands to get the perfect jellybean.

Go.

I’m going to guess you’ve watched “Into the Wild”. If you haven’t I strongly recommend it. Just remember the old marine.

Being from Alaska, I’d say instead of heading north though, it’s best to head south.

So for shits and giggles added you on twitter, hope you don’t mind.

I wish I could write but for some reason nothing really comes to me anymore. Everything I write seemingly ends up with it become A) a livejournal entry, which gets deleted B) a music post (deleted) C) a rant = deleted.

Nothing interesting :(

mojo:Actually fee landscaping would be great, if I had anything to landscape which unfortunately I oo not. That plot I plant my vegetables on doesn’t take much.

sauerkraut:My taxes are pretty simple though I do have a trust fund and a bunch of CD’S and a couple of housing things to deal with, so I end up having my brother look it over and then it gets sent to an accountant, because I am just not into all that crap.

john: rejuvenate is such a pleasant sounding word.

Yea, I’ve had those nasty jellybeans before. Those beans you don’t know whether to spit out or force down because they are already partially chewed up.

Nate: I did see it but I am not quite looking to go that far. I wouldn’t want to spend too much time alone in t any forest for that matter.

Enjoi: I would think you would have more to say but, yea people have me on twitter it seems I may even have to start using it one day. I’m on pownce but don’t use that either -”nowickedwitch” of course.I’ll go check twitter out again some time this week.

Aw, a Cuban cigar, a bubble bath, a white Zinfandel, tropical winds and Coltrane playing the background.

Wouldn’t that be a better world to live in???
