My Message in a Bottle

February 28th, 2008 by cooper

Francis from “In the Streamattached to me with this lovely little message in a bottle meme, which originated at “Mimi Writes”.

I thought I’d do it to break up the “political tension”.

I like this idea. You grab the blank image from Mimi and mess with it in any photo editor, adding your message. You then go over to Mimi’s, if you so desire, and leave the link to the post where you placed the message.

It’s rather like “post secret” of the blogesphere, except realistically most people will sign their names. If you desire to take the “I masturbate in the shower” route, there is an anonymous option. The explicit directions are to be found at Mimi’s link above.

There is a Message in a Bottle site where the message is taken to float for eternity. Eternal Life — what more could you want.

Mine is below, and uncharacteristically I am going to tag several people, something I am not sure I’ve done but once or twice in three years. I will leave out those who are on vacation, those who are moving, and anyone appalled at the thought of a meme. Well almost everyone appalled at the thought of a meme.

Photobucket

I’m tagging, sorry, with this meme:

Wombat
MoJo
Kelleypea
Marvalus
Jason P

OC and Quilly

Anyone can do it of course. I’d like to see messages from everyone — you are all very creative.

I don’t know if you realize it or not, but I originally tagged you as well.

Your message bottle is now afloat in the vast blogosphere ocean. You are Message In a Bottle #93.
Feel free to toss in a bottle whenever you feel the urge to send a message. The blog ocean is always open. You never know what will wash ashore.

  2. I must be doing better in life than I thought, as no one has ever seen me with make-up :). Excellent job Cooper, and I love the addition of the peace sign (that is a peace sign right?). I’m off to canvass for Obama on Friday in Cincy, so wish me luck.

Homework…but interesting. I love messing with photoshop. And I can do no makeup as long as eyebrows don’t count.

And here I’d spent all day thinking about Obama & Co. Oh, well, I’ll finish that post and then consider what to do about your message in a bottle.

Is this a Sting? nyuk, nyuk

very professional layout and enigmatic quote Cooper.…

I’m definitely going to have to give this a try. Hmmm. But what message do I want floating for all eternity?

  7. sauerkrautNo Gravatar says:

    Is that a peace sign?

If so, it is upside down.

If it is an upside down peace sign, what does the portend?

    Cynicism? Pessimism? Lack of hope?

If that’s the case, we’d better hurry out and vote for Obama. Let the heavens open and the host of angels spring forth.

Great work. That’s one deep bottle, my favorite kind.

Thanks for leaving out people who are moving. It seems like fun and not a meme – too many things on the blogosphere are called memes that aren’t or the word of the decade “challenges.”

Who could top your effort? It’s an instant classic.

    ha,ha

The message rocks of cooper. Is that an empty bottle of Bombay Blue Sapphire by any chance?

  12. kaitNo Gravatar says:

    Now that is cool.

I kind of like the political tension, as an observer.

Mimi: I didn’t realize it before hand but afterwards yes I did. I get around rather late these days due to school. Ew..I like the number 93. Great idea Mimi.

Francis: I wish you much luck of course…knock em dead.

    kellypea: Fun homework though.

amoeba: I prefer not to call it a sting but if you insist. ;)

laketrees: thanks, and happy 200th post and counting.

mojo: Your photo is in a private album can’t access it.;(

SK: it indicates I have not used my graphic tablet in three years.….……

Doug: It was your bottle after all.

pia: I would never torture you so.

zydeco: aren’t you sweet„„„„ It’s actually a line from one of my old posts.…only one of the two hundred or so you have missed. ;)

jacob: I don’t know, ask Doug, it’s his bottle — he has been on vacation.…

kait: Time to stop observing and jump in. It is a cool idea though is it not?

Something like this will show up on my bottle, I’m sharing it here lest I forget it between now and the time I get to a space and place where I can inscribe this or its successor on the image.
