Nothing’s Gonna Change My World.

Due to a heavy engagement with Supersaturated Tuesday, and school work, I wasn’t paying attention to anything else, but in case you missed it as I did, February 4th was Across the Universe Day.

I missed it as NASA beamed The Beatles “Anthem of Peace” into space, across the universe as it were.

I should have been there, because face it, school work, fool work, elections, selections….nothing’s gonna change my world. Unless we keep beaming songs of peace into outer space that is.

There ya go.

I prefer Fiona’s Version. Though The Beatles Version does rock.

- Fiona Apple Lyrics

Both of my older boys love the Beatles, and a couple of days ago, the middle one told me they (don’t you always wonder who “they” is?)were going to do this. Somehow, I knew that all was right even though NPR told me on my car radio that morning that it wasn’t. Okay, so maybe for a minute. And I remembered 1963, being in the second grade, watching the Beatles on Ed Sullivan, and looking now at the handsome person I raised standing in front of me and thought, I wonder what that sounds like in space.

And Fiona rocks.

I like Bowie’s version too.

Have you seen the movie of the same title? Some good covers there.

I guess I’m the wrong person to comment on this. I didn’t even get excited on the first moon walk–which caused a horrific fight with my father over my lack of enthusiasm over anything but boys

I always knew a man would walk on the moon. I always knew songs would be beamed into space. We should have been much further along but for diversion of monies etc

I would get excited about space travel in any form if it were a true world joint effort

Do like Kellypea’s comment–and Wombat was up too late

Right O. Beaming songs of peace into a compassionate universe is at least as helpful as passing a U.N. resolution.

I didn’t catch across the universe day.

The song is good in most covers. Rufus Wainwright has a version too.

How easily things slip past us when we’re not looking.

casey: The RW version is cool too.

coyote: We must look closer, and pay more attention.

I love rufus wainwright’s version; it is, perhaps, my favorite version.

And yes I loved the movie as well. It actually came out on dvd on Tuesday.

I like all versions, Rufus is the man though. Not to appear sexist, but I think females prefer Fiona’s version two to one. Great song and awesome lyrics. Wish I had been able to sit outside and sing with the rest of the world, ah….maybe next time.
