I Just Dropped In.….….….…..to see what condition, my condition was in.

Those who spawned me alight. The days which follow are not clearly defined. The availability of my availability is not available.
One never knows what the future holds, near or far.

I woke up this mornin with the sundown shinin in
I found my mind in a brown paper bag within
I tripped on a cloud and fell-a eight miles high
I tore my mind on a jagged sky

To shop or not to shop, that is the question. A question which should have been answered by now you might say, but you are not me.

I pushed my soul in a deep dark hole and then I followed it in
I watched myself crawlin out as I was a-crawlin in

Shop I must, late, unenthusiastically, and only for a minute. The lull of the bookstore will soon conquer me, again the leaves of green will flow to the keeper of the books, until the urge for sushi drags me away to the man with an art for newly dead fish. I will stay, drink sake and say “ things are not like they used to be”, to which the man skilled at dead fish art will say “an ancient you are not, but no worry, blow fish can kill you, but we don’t serve them here”. I love that man.

I got up so tight I couldn’t unwind
I saw so much I broke my mind
I just dropped in to see what condition my condition was in

“Just Dropped In (To See What Condition My Condition Was In)” is a song written by Mickey Newbury. Said to reflect the LSD experience, Newbury wrote it as a warning against the danger of using LSD. First recorded in 1967 by Jerry Lee Lewis, who rejected it, it was a hit for The First Edition (with Kenny Rogers on lead vocals) in 1968. It was Rogers’s first top ten hit in the Billboard charts, but not typical of the country folk harmonies that characterized most of The First Edition’s catalog.[1] However, the group were no strangers to rock music, bouncing among country, pop, rock, and folk.

I prefer funk version, but for those who feel otherwise here is The Kenny Rogers and the First Edition version.

  • Cool groove. Makes me want to walk the streets on a bright yellow sunny day and feel cool like that.

  • i havent encountered the song yet
    but the lyrics
    tell me the details

  • I hate shopping too. Whatever you wind up shopping for, do NOT buy anything Vista. Thousands of computer dollars in order to be bait-and-switched into spending thousands more on software that actually works. (I have a Mac, partner doesn’t; one of us is apoplectic just at the moment, trying to download a video that Vista just will NOT convert into a file that YouTube can recognize.)

Have a happy anyway. That is supposed to be the point of all this.

  • I still need to shop for my parents – the last two on my (albeit short) list. I’ll probably end up getting gift certificate because at the very least they should be able to regift it to me if it just so happens it’s for a store they don’t actually patronize.

  • Oh, I do miss SooooooooooooooooooooOUUUUUUUUUUUUUU Train. First Edition, slightly less so.

  • Cooper, you always surprise me. What made you think of THAT song????

  • I don’t even try to understand what Cooper thinks of or why. I just like it

An ancient she might not be, but wise.…

  • What a great post to wake up too this morning. Definitely enjoyed the funk version better. I’m 95% done with my Christmas shopping and it was relatively painless this year (surprisingly so). I avoided the malls and bought from smaller, independent vendors.

Have a great weekend and a great Christmas. XINE :)

  • I’m still too busy chainsawing my way thru last week’s two ice storms to know what condition I am in. Oh, and what Pia stated. Cooper’s mind is scary sometimes. Never know what dwells therein.

Shopping? Passshhaw! I just clicked on LLBean and Cheryl’s cookies and took care of all that. Otherwise, home-made soap.
