Don’t worry I’m not going over to the dark side, but am going to win, at the very least, that watercolor.
I’m off today, stayed up quite late last night watching Nadal’s capri covered thighs try to work their way into the quarter finals of the US Open. He did not succeed, but he gave it his best shot. It was pleasant to watch either way.
I am happy to say that the blogger outcry to the media sparked an increase in local media coverage of the Jena Six. Thanks to Yobachi for instigating this. Not only local coverage though.….….…
I was sitting in a sports bar, (I like to call it a news bar because I watch news coverage there), late yesterday afternoon with some friends. I was having a quick bite to eat before heading home when what to my wondrous eyes should appear but a flash “Jena Six” across the bottom of the CNN screen.
It’s hard trying to figure out how to get the sound up on those stupid things quickly. More difficult still from the aisle seat of a large booth. With a not so graceful leap frog I managed to knock over only one or two beers as I did a (still not perfected) jump reach over several astounded friends in order to increase the volume to listen to the coverage.
I’m not sure when they did the original story it was either yesterday or the day before, but it was the first I had seen it. I think they will be running it again so try to catch it. I hope this means continued coverage.
Carry on.

Nadal is hot.
I didn’t see the coverage, I’ll try to catch it today. My comment on the dark side is below.
Still trying to perfect the “jump reach”?
National Public Radio (npr.org) has been doing a pretty good job covering this story from the beginning (that’s my major source of news so I didn’t even realize that it wasn’t getting it’s deserved coverage).
Props to NPR.
I listen NPR. NPR coverS a lot of things the major media does not. I always wondered why the major media didn’t pick up what NPR is covering? Usually they do not.
A little of both sides works.
I don’t find Nadal in the least attractive. If I were to swing in that direction I’d go for Federer
It’s still not in the news here. Snopes Urban Legends does have it though – they present the NAACP’s version and theirs which holes can be punched through
I feel more passionate about this than anything else happening because of the damn nooses. Says too much about our society
I can’t condone violence but extenuating circumstances is too often used as a valid defense in cases with far less extenuating circumstances
I bet the owner of the spilled beer didn’t complain a bit.
You actually convinced me to put up a banner about the Jena Six. It’s been up for the last four or five days now. That’s saying a lot. It’s saying a lot about how much your post affected me and it’s saying a lot about how much I believe in the cause you brought to my attention, Miss Cooper.
I wrote the SF Chronicle asking them to pick up the story. Hey, I have written them before and always received a reply from their editors so I figure no harm in trying…
You are my inspiration this early am as I ready myself to teach a 6:30 am class…
Figured it would be sweeter than besos…
Haven’t caught the CNN version, classes have started. I saw some local coverage on it recently.
I could never get by wearing those pants.
Your link is broken.
I haven’t caught the CNN version of the story either.
Yeah, I saw that story on Saturday/Sunday about the Jena Six. I only caught the part where the white family talked about their boy’s attack as if he was a angel…
Thanks for the low down on the contest. Gave me a frivolous way to write a blog…I’d like the coaching of creative professionals…for two sessions. Or a USB storage stick.
Hopefully the beer you spilt won’t get you fired from your group of friends…
Later.
Good deal in writing that letter Miz BoheMia. I’d be great if you reproduced it and sent it to a number of different outlets.
I don’t know if you have a blog, but maybe if you post it for your readers, they can print it off and send it too, or get some inspiration on writing their own.
Yobachi
Kait: Nadal is hot but lately I’ve come to find Federer quite attractive.
Jason-gs: They were the only ones covering it up until recently. Yes they do deserve some props for that.
Casey: They don’t follow it because the ad money isn’t there. Good to know… as I said me to.:)
Pia: It gives some hope. That’s something.
Doug: Your right there but as cheap as the beer was during those few hours, had they complained it would have been a sad display of parsimony.
MoJo: I am proud of you. Sometimes things just hit you in the face don’t they.
Mizzy B: My activist friends as always.
I’ve seen the face of 6AM and it isn’t pretty.
G: i guess I’ll take back the fine pair of capri’s I was going to send you as a back to school present.
Jason: Yes I hope someone I know wins something at least. As far as I know it didn’t damage the relationships. I think next time it might be suggested that I sit by the telly though.
For the first time in my life, a tiny piece of my cynicism died.
No dark side, for you the dark side is always light.
