She’s Come Undone and so Have I

June 27th, 2007 by cooper

“Undone” is the word which describes me after I read of situations like the one below.

Anger at ‘lenient’ rape sentence

Wow, just wow. A man rapes a ten year old girl and the judge can’t find it within himself to give him more than a two year sentence. Why? Because the girl looked older, and she was dressed provocatively?

“Judge Hall said in sentencing he faced a moral dilemma as the fact they had sex within 45 minutes of meeting was an absolute crime.”

“But he said the girl had dressed provocatively and looked as though she was 16.“

“The judge gave Fenn concurrent two-year and 18-month sentences, but he will be free in eight weeks after serving eight months in prison awaiting sentence.”

It is impossible for me to understand this kind reasoning. It is impossible for me to believe that if I dressed provocatively someone could rape me and be home in a couple years. It is way past incomprehension when the victim is a ten years old girl. Moral dilemma? Give me a break.

I wonder what kind moral dilemma this judge would find himself in if someone he loved was raped by some thug. If that someone he loved was dressed provocatively do you think there would be a moral dilemma?

There is something seriously wrong with this picture.

— —  —  —  —  —  —  —  —  —  —  —  —  — -

Almost two years ago, when the Arizona Star dropped Ann Coulter in favor of a less bile filled Tony Snow, I wrote a post at Blog Critics. If I had had to guess at that time, I would have guessed the end was near for Annie.

A year later, when she was garnering publicity again, I mentioned here at this blog that she should be ignored.

Another year latter and people are again paying more attention to her outbursts than to anything of significance in the world.

Who cares what she said about the Edward’s. They are adults, and the campaign is reaping the financial benefits of Ann’s hate filled rhetoric as we speak. A slight by Coulter should mean nothing these days, because she is nothing. Ignore her and she will go away. Give her all this attention, and every so often she comes back with more fervor than before.

Please. Her books don’t sell anymore, except to a certain few
Ignore her, and she won’t even be able to sell herself as the Paris Hilton of the Radical Unhinged Right.

It’s too late
She’s gone too far
She’s lost the sun
She’s come undone

But she sure does have a purdy adam’s apple.

Gotta give to that girl, tho. If there’s anyone capable of being more ugle and less ugly than dickless cheney all at the same time, it is mann coulter. I don’t pay her no mind, perhaps even less than that paris hilton critter. But it’s fun to make fun of both of them, n’est ce pas?

  2. GoldyNo Gravatar says:

Did you read Al Franken’s book “Lies and the Lying Liars Who Tell them?” The chapter(s) on Ann Coulter are truly hysterical… especially his judicious use of bogus footnotes in her honor. Sorry… I am ignoring her again.

  3. MizBoheMiaNo Gravatar says:

My sister was raped at 12, looked older, and the detective on the case, who did jack shit to catch the rapist and whom I eventually told to fuck off, insinuated that my sister was at fault.

This is more common than we know and it fills me with rage.

But I am not going to get into it too deeply because it is upsetting to a point that I cannot handle going there. I am sure that as a woman you know what I mean.

Ann Coulter should be shot. I cannot stand the bitch and it made me laugh when you compared her to Paris Hilton… she was on TV just now and I mentioned that to Loverboy… they should both be shot.

Yeah, declarations of an insomniac bohemian!

  4. Okay…two quick thoughts.

The judge felt bad because the girl “looked sixteen.” Last time I checked, wasn’t sixteen underage as well???

Coulter…no way does she believe all the crap she says. She’s too smart. It’s all calculated publicity mongering, and it worked really well for a long time. But I think people are over it. Oh…she’s also really gross visually, isn’t she? Sorry for being so shallow.…

    I.D.

Cooper, gave you an award this am…and fixed that virallink thing..I’m so pathetic because I’m old. My 50th is in a few weeks…so you gotta give this old fart a little slack!!! You are just so adorable!!! I wish you were my daughter!!!!

  6. jacobNo Gravatar says:

That is an incredibily stupid decision. That he even thought place blame on the shoulders of the victim is astounding.

I’ll do as you ask –ignore Coulter. She will play her part until she can squeeze no more money out of it. I don’t want to help.

  7. piaNo Gravatar says:

    my comment didn’t take

The Judge’s ruling was stupid. Rape is a growing problem made easier by date rape drugs and stupid judges

Coulter should be ignored but people think she’s a goddess. Nobody I know

The Edwards seem to be running “the pity me” campaign

You know even if I put Courting on hiatus I will haunt you

I have banned myself from blogs on blogging, writing, design and “pity me for I have a sugar addiction”

    That might help

Love your comment policy. It’s so true and so OTN

  8. kaitNo Gravatar says:

I just read about that judge and it makes me furious. I can’t even address it.

Coulter just makes me want to gag, and you’re right if she is ignored she will go away. This is a desperate attempt to make a few more bucks.

The other option is that she is crazier than I think, but I think she is clever like a fox. Me thinks the people who buy into it all are stupid.

  9. […] the no longer wonder child but wonder woman Cooper’s blog for a more serious look at […]

I almost never watch TV, so I don’t listen to or watch the various Media whores (of which Coulter is but one) selling their wares.

I’ve got more interesting and important things to do with my life that be concerned with their puerile and inane drivel.

Same with that Hilton person. So she gets slung in the slammer for a few days for breaking the law. Don’t lots of people get the same treatment across the nation every day? What’s so special about her. Anyway aside from the fact that shes a spoilt rich bitch that is going to inherit some obscene fortune, what the heck has she done to make her “famous”?

  11. Jason P.No Gravatar says:

The justice system is a real odd bird. Jurisdictions are pecular beasts in how they look at crimes. For this judge to say even half the stuff he did, and take the tack of issuing such a wrist slap is beyond me too. We usually get the fringe reports on sentences, by that I mean we get only the easiest sentences for heinous crimes, the harshest ones for heinous crimes, the hardest punishments for petty stuff and weird punishments for weird crimes. 95% of the justice system is ignored, at least unreported on — and those cases have their own twists, turns and malfeasance by prosecutors or others.

I have plenty of perspective on this. Even my college roommate for 1 1/2 years is now a top dog ADA in my home county. Bob Persin now prosecutes death penalty cases…and I know why he does it or at least his psychology of why he is on that side.

Personal experience with the justice system makes for another story too. I help a 60-year old black man write his appeal from a 10-year sentence for carrying .25 grams of cocaine. He was arrested and convicted for dealing within 1000 feet of a school district. He was at the limit of that distance, it was midnight and dealing wasn’t his purpose. The judge on his case was later convicted of some crime (I’ve forgotten) and his “representation” consisted of 3 Public Defender changes, no visits and gross “ineffective assistance of counsel.” Two weeks after he filed this appeal, he was moved away from the prison.
(If you are moved in Indiana, you must refile the appeal following the same procedures.) I don’t know what happen to Johnny Braster, but I am sure he is still inside. (I did a web search, released 1/5/2006. 3/11/07 he was back in Ft. Wayne for some problem..He’s now 67.)

I will not go into my own pecular story but only to say, if people with law degrees are alleged to be intelligent, fair and respectable, then we need to revamp their “after law program” in inserting back their minds, hearts and honesty to fit the levels of power they possess and often abuse on both sides of every legal story.

Tragedies will continue to happen. It is a fact of this system.

  12. cooperNo Gravatar says:

sauerkraut: If making fun of them didn’t bring them such financial gain it wouldn’t bother me.

Goldy: The first, ( and only ) time I saw Coulter in person it was in a debate with Franken — in Connecticut. It became clear to me at that time, I think I was a freshman in college, that she has very little of substance to say. When among those who did not agree with her views she could rarely present a reasonable argument. This is when I knew it was all a ruse.

Miz B: I know it must be very painful and if this infuriates me I can’t imagine how it makes you feel.

Ev: I am very poor on viral linkage or anything regarding code or arrangements. I love rewards though.

    Oh you said award. ;)

Jacob: Stupid is a much kinder word than I wold use but yes it is, and I do ignore her, except when I am writing to tell people to ignore her. ;)

pia: I found it in spam this evening. usually I will retrieve them when I find them but I often do not get to the blog until evenings these days. So if it disappears don’t worry it eventually will show up. WordPress does not eat comments like blogger does it just places them aside..

The comment policy is thanks to Lewis Carrol.

kait: she is crazy but if crazy gets her publicity and money …well she’s going for it.

al: exactly  — I think I saw your shoes all.

Dedd: Wow, out of thin air.

Exactly, but you call it as you.….….….…..draw it.

Eyebee: I am with you on this. I am not a fan of the television although I admit to watching the late night reruns of some of the punditry. Only when there are no old movies worth watching.

Jason: There is just no excuse for it really, no justification.

  13. I think judges should be held responsible for decisions like that. Give them the remainder of the maximum sentence.

As for Anne Coulter, the first I heard about her was by reading Al Frank’s “Lies and the Lying Liars” in 2003. So I had a few years of non-knowledge. Still never listened to Rush Limbaugh. This satirical video by Tina Dupuy was funny though: http://youtube.com/watch?v=VgdNZSgWjNs

  14. GNo Gravatar says:

You will say it until you’re blue in the face. People love to hate someone, or they love to listen someone filled with just as much misdirected malice as they are.

The decision by that judge was unconscionable.

  15. […] She’s Come Undone and so Have I (tags: blog, politics nutter fruicake bitch weirdo) Did You Know? […]

  16. DougNo Gravatar says:

Of course how a woman or girl dresses is irrelevant to a rape charge. It’s boggling that someone would say otherwise.

I love the new comment policy. No mas español, yo prometo.
