Shia Muslims believe that the title of prophet was passed from Muhammad by the will of god, not by the choice of Muhammad or Muslims as a whole. Sunni Muslims, believe that the divine spark followed through the the sons Muhammad picked as his successors and that were accepted by the people. Hmm. And I wonder why they have different views on who their governmental leaders should be. And why democracy, as an institution, will never work in the American form in a place that predominantly believes in divine providence picking their leaders. And why, in a country formerly dominated by a minority, when that minority loses power, violence results. Shrug. I do so enjoy political discussion on a higher plane.
