Wonderland or Not

All the Lonely People

This is really an aside but I’m posting it in the middle.

Blog-Critics has a review of “Blogosphere: The New Political Arena” by Michael Keren

The BC review mentions that the book was written for academia and might be hard to come by, but that is hardly going to be the case. How smart of someone who usually writes only academic papers, the kind even a mother wouldn’t read, to title the book this way; it’s sure to get him a few more sales.

Haven’t read the book but looking at the review I can’t say there is a lot I’d probably disagree with. I do think maybe he read the wrong blogs but who knows. I’ve never felt the affect of blogs was as pervasive, at this time, as everyone else seems to think they are. Most are just personal journals or people trying to make money but who have nothing to offer, and for the most part many are boring and or screeching or just too arcane to be of interest to the masses.

“suggests individuals who bare their souls in blogs are isolated and lonely, living in a virtual reality instead of forming real relationships or helping to change the world.”

I’ve always felt there is way too much talk in the land of blogs by people who don’t do anything in real life to mitigate the very circumstances of which they are continually complaining. That having been said I think there is a lot more out there than this professor has written about.

The review is interesting go to check it out.

The reviewer also has been invited to the official launch of the book ,and has been granted an interview with Michael Kern, so that will be something to check up on at a later date.

In the meantime don’t forget to check out the 2000 bloggers .

Go, go look at all the lonely people.

Comments off if you have something on your mind about this say it at the review at Blog Critics.

It was fun while is lasted. It is funny to see how seriously some people take their technorati ranking, sad too. They are blogs people none of them are really all that special and they are all that special. LOL this was my little piece.
