It’s a Go — Go

Also thanks to Jacob I found out that the Coalition for Darfur was also nominated in the category of Wider Recognition blogs; meaning, I presume, blogs that deserve wider recognition. If any blog deserves it the coalition does. They have exhausted themselves in an endeavor to get people to give a shit about something besides their designer clothes. While most blogs, including mine, are rather self serving, full of rhetoric, pontification (or just really badly photo shopped pictures of Karl Rove and Bill Maher with the blog owner), the Coalition has attempted to give us a conscience and help bring back the human to humanity.

People will spew on forever in their blogs about racism using some of their best academic rhetoric and satirical wit, hoping to impress everyone, especially themselves, with how astute and active they are when in fact the most obvious and horrific form of racism right in front of us and it hardly gets a mention. Vote for the Coalition. Better yet join, which is probably what they would rather have you do.

So appropriate to have the voting begins on the eve of the Academy Awards. A show that will get viewers only because John Stewart is hosting, not because anyone really cares who these people are or what awards they want to give themselves. I never watch them but will this year because of Stewart.

And just so people can stop saying I am cold and do not let people know about the “real me” here in blog land.…a few excerpts from my emails with family will follow.

From an email from my mother:

Did you know that the owner of Criagslist is older than I am and is a Costco member?

From an email from my brother:

When you get an apartment make sure it has a bedroom for me and Anna.

Oh and to the anonymous person who sent me the twenty different presentations of tabouli….thanks so much. I will hold on that for awhile though as you could probably guess would be the case. I feel much better though and did not stay in today as I had planned. I am staying in tonight however because there may be a mad man loose in the city, or not, either way I’m taking no chances. I’m chilling to Dionne Warwick, although Ani DiFranco does some sweet covers .

Until later .….…

Mommy’s alright, daddy’s alright, they just seem a little weird.

Surrender, surrender, but don’t give yourself away, ay, ay, ay.

  • i was also nominated for best blog, non professional, though hell has a bway
    better chance of freezing over

Thank you the Empress of Wonderlandornot

Don’t blame your mother for the age thing; could live without
Costco-though I think he was trying to say that he’s cost
concious but would never go to a Sam’s club – can’t believe
I’m analyzing your mother’s email – let me go

  • ha ha, my mother has probably set foot in costco once or twice. I left out the part where she wrote…“I think I bought tennis socks there once when we lived in Maryland”. lHave to keep some privacy afterall.
    lol

    I saw it I voted.

  • My son’s pulling my hair as I type and I do not like it. Already voted for all them fine blogs, especially Miss Pia (two categories!)

I had problems with some jerk who kept sending me viruses through Craigslist (where I used to put up the old baby equipment for sale… I LOVE Craigslist.. a SF original!) and emailed them about it. Craig himself wrote back. He was very sweet and helped in any way he could. That’s what’s so unique about SF… such things are totally normal there and everything has that personal touch…

People say you’re cold? Ah, they don’t know you! I suppose if a woman doesn’t gush and squeal and act ditzy for all and knows what she wants it makes he cold. I am glad you are cold then. Don’t thaw out ’cause I like you just the way you are…

  • Voted… :) You are cold? Hmmmm… never thunk it! ;)

  • Cold and secretive is a fine way to blog. It’s not your job to make stalkers’ lives easier.

When I was 20 stalking took hard work and ingenuity.

  • I’m glad you are up and about and resuming your good, and not very self-centered, work. Best of luck to Pia.

  • New site? Interesting. Hope everything works out just fine!
    Rock on!

  • Sometimes I fear the whole point to everything I do is to serve my own interests. I want to be complicated and have layers upon layers to my agenda, but the simple truth of my personality is that I have a need to announce everything I do as if it is the greatest event ever to happen.

We all like to feel we are more important than we actually are and, in terms of post content, I do see a definite pattern in the number of my posts that feel important and the number of my posts that actually are.

  • I’m glad that I’m not the only one who has people telling them that their blog seems “cold” or that I don’t reveal enough “personal” information.

Your mom’s email made me laugh. I’m not sure why.

    I’m off to vote.

  • well, i guess i will go and vote.

Vanessa: When I click your name it brings me back to my blog? Nice to meet you anyway.

    Zydeco: Do do.

  • I think the NyQuil may still be wearing off.
    vanessa :)

  • Thank you so much for the nod. Everybody at BIO appreciates it!

  • Oh, I so voted.

John Stewart is the man. I wonder if he’s a Costco member?
